well I can no longer play SH3 online with the guys because it continues to CTD. it was great while it lasted but we've tried everything. I have a clean install of SH3, patched and with GW 1.1a, this is what I had before and it worked fine. It doesnt work fine any longer. we cant figure out the problem at all. :cry:

all i can hope for is that when GWX comes out, everyone re-installs and it will work ok. It started when I installed SH3 Commander but even after several cleans ups and un-installs it continues to CTD even without any Commander on the system at all.

Hey dan i have made a new fresh install SH3 + 1.4 PATCH +GW1.1A

Don't give up yet mate! Let us try and figure this out. We can get on vent together and do some file comparison. maybe, somewhere a file has stayed behind or something. YOu were playing fine for a few days, then something changed that. We just have to figure out what....

When you say clean instal did you delete the folder in my documents before reinstalling ?
From one of your earlier posts you said you still had "loaded with SH3commander" at the bottom even after uninstalling commander - which means you didnt rollback commander before uninstall
Sounds like a residual file left from SH3 commander

afterwards I uninstalled everything and manually deleted the files! I re-installed with just GW 1.1a and didnt even put my campaign files back. it still crashed. i might try it again if chris has re-installed.

Yep dan have reinstalled everything. have not reinstalled sh3 commander yet.

It seems to be related to GW only. I have been in several Regular SH3 games with no crashes. I hosted many of them and noone crashed. I am at a loss at the moment with why it is only GW. Three of us have only SH3 1.4 and GW only and still crashed. Sometimes we don't. then other times we do.....Sometimes, like Dan, he crashes right away, and other times it can be 10-15 minutes in the game and I would crash. No real patern to it....

Well, this is what I have found so far. if we use other missions, like the ones I got from you Chris, I sometimes crash. If I use the default missions, the 4 mp ones that came with SH3 I never crash....So, there is something there that is causing a problem...

Send me the missions and will look at them for you
Maybe a ship thats not in the GW1.1 install

AFAIK just the host
It only needs a ship scripted which is not in your install for it to CTD
When Chris sends them I will take a look

Only the Host needs the mission files, BUT if he has Ships that the client does not OR he has equipment files that are altered OR he has a GUN.DAT files thats not STOCK GW, CTD for the clients.

if so that would mean that it wouldnt harm if you create a mission with the TGW mod installed onto ur SH3.

The only thing that comes into play with writing missions are the units involved - ports as well if a harbour raid - but basically just the units scripted in acertain way
If you include a unit on the mission - say - Graf Spee - and your the only one with it then it will CTD for the other players as thier game cant find it to render it

I went ahead and sent you the missions I have. It is just odd that sometimes you can play and at other times you can't. I can't remember what mission it was, but all was going well and right when my torp hit a ship I CTD. Not sure what is going on. Just that we all play fine with the stock missions. We played 2 last night with no errors what so ever.

No but unless you do the missions yourselves your not gauranteed succes
If the person making the mission has an extra ship and includes that then you have problems

Have recieved 3 missions from Chris which will look at V soon
Have to install GW1.1A first lol - cos they definately wont check out in GWX
The Paukenschlag mission just crashed in mission ed so after install will check them out
