I have a quick question. If I have GW installed, does that mean I can only play GW modded servers, or can I play on a regular SH3 server?

only those with GW mod I think, the installs have to be the same for it to work properly. if they're not, it crashes you to the desktop

no problems. you'll love GW mod, ive always been a mod sceptic, worrying that they corrupt the game or mess things up. GW mod on the ohter hand is phenomenal and i couldnt play without it, having had it. I hear GWX will be even better

I was attempting to do that this evening before work. I renamed the the SH3 folder that I have in my g drive and the one I have in c:/program files plus I renamed the SH3.exe file in the g drive, yet it is still detecting my original version. I ran out of time to figure out what and where it was detecting. WIll work on it when I get home this morning....

Hum, I must be missing something some where. I renamed my SH3 folder to SH3GW and the exe name to SH3GW in my H drive. Did the same in the My documents folder. When I click on the dvd I still have my original version detected and won't let me do a fresh install. It always brings up the repair modify delete options.
What am I missing guys? I am at a loss and I feel rather stupid not being able to figure out what I am doing wrong.....Sometimes I do think I am Bernard..lol

Ah, Ok so it can pick the place to do the install when I hit repair? I was affraid it would overwrite what I have if I did that.

I tried that method and it didn't work. So, and why I didn't think of it before, was just copied the whole SH3 folder into a different one and install GW and all works fine now. Just renamed the install folder SH3GW and changed the exe file name and made a shortcut for the SH3GW.exe and now I can play both versions.
