The method described in that thread requires Javascript, so check your browser settings.

Thanks for replying Gizzmoe, I'm using IE6 & internet options has the following options that are unticked:
Java Cosole enabled
Java Logging enabed
the following are ticked:
Use JRE 1.5.0_06 for applet
Jit compiler for visual machine enabled
Do I change any of these or could you point me to what to do please?:D

In the internet options go to Scripting and enable Active Scripting, then restart IE. If you have a software firewall or antivirus make sure that they donīt block Javascript.

Unfortunately there is nothing to do with Scripting anywhere in IE6 - Internet Options or any of it's submenus, maybe someone who knows IE will read this and respond, I'll keep my fingers crossed!:D
Thanks.

Go to the Internet Options, Security Tab, click Custom Level, there you find the Scripting setting.

Hi, thanks for persisting Gizzmoe, seems that it is already selected by default:

Unless there is yet some other place.

Check if your firewall or antivirus blocks Javascript.

Hereīs a website where you can test Javascript:
http://www.misitio.ch/ie/ie_all/java/javatest.html

If Javascript doesnīt work the second clock shows 00:00:00.

As you said it doesn't work:cry: all I get is the clock showing 00:00:00.
I tried to follow the links but all in German & took me to a German Microsoft site & got totally lost, could you give a link to English please.:D
Thanks.
PS. I tried Google language http link but only errors.
Edit: I run ZoneAlarm and Mobile Code Control is off allowing Embedded Objects, mime objects, scripts & Java scripts.

Hereīs the link to Windows Script 5.6, it reinstalls Javascript and also some other script languages:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa

But before you install that clear the browser cache, then restart IE and try the Javascript testpage again.

I cleared the cache then went to the test site & the time now shows in the green digital display however the seconds are a bit eratic but I assume that is irelevent.:)
I tried to edit the title but still no go, if I double click to the right of the title it highlights in white or if I just hold down the mouse butten I can highlight the text in blue, either way any further clicking on title will just take me to the thread concerned, so I have come to a dead end yet again!:-? But atleast it's a step further!:yep:

Not sure what you want, the link title I was trying to change was to this thread:
http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=95949
But don't see how that will help - totally confused now!:dead:

Iīve asked you to post the link so that Neal knows in which forum the thread is. He then can check if the forum permissions are ok, and he can also check if *he* can rename it. If he can that means the thread itself is ok, database-wise.

I have tried changing other posts of mine but can't edit any, editing the post title just may not be possable with IE6.:-? I think you are running from memory a different browser.:)

It does work with IE6, Iīve tried it.

Just by the way I have downloaded the update "WindowsXP-Windows2000-Script56-KB917344-x86-enu.exe" but haven't run it, I don't like updating unless I have to, also I have only installed SP1 as SP2 causes too many problems, that update is taylored mostly for the XP firewall (IMO - useless!), I use Zonealarm.:D
I mention this just incase editing the title requires SP2.:yep:
Thanks.

Itīs a harmless update and it will probably fix the problem, so just install it.

The update has been put in & the Script test passes but still can't edit the post title, as a last try could you please tell me the steps in actually editing the title, the original thread is not very clear on this.:)
Thanks.

After a few double clicks there it highlights the text in white then if I move my cursor over the text it changes to blue but doesn't show the text cursor just the finger pointer, clicking again will just take me there!
Time to give up! As a moderator you may have editing rights that I don't, about the only thing I can think of.
Thanks for your time in trying to sort this out, I do appreciate it.:yep:
