Does anyone know the story behind these two pics?

Those pictures show the sad fate of the German Imperial Navy's U-118. After the surrender she should have been transferred to France, but the tow parted and she went aground off Hastings, England on April 15, 1919. Later broken up for scrap.

Many of these photos and a lot more material can be found at Uboat Archive (http://www.uboatarchive.net/).

And yes, those are depth bombs in that pic, being droped onto the U-569 (http://www.uboatarchive.net/U-569.htm).

Nice one Oberon :O)

Looking at that 2nd photo of U118, it'd be a shocker if you lived in the houses on the beachfront. I can imagine opening the bedroom curtains, half asleep, and seeing that lying there!

Great pics CAPO  I especially like the frontal view on that first one and the AA crew is interesting but understood.

Torp, Oberon, the blue is better, less flashy, doesn't give me a seizure driving by or get my attention so bad that they end up putting that up around my vehicle just down the road. :D

Probably you are right.
But, as you can see, they are very similar to the 4 canisters placed on the front deck.
Here it is the detail.

No, those are different, although they look the same (much bigger, if you notice). The four at the front were installed on mine-laying versions of the boats, and were used to launch mines.

Thats the Crichton-Vulcan Number 707, or the CV-707. It was built by a German engineering company and was the prototype for the Type II. It was later sold to Finland, renamed Vesikko and is now under permanent museum display in the Suomenlinna seafortress outside Helsinki.

You probably remember the user "CV-707". . .

Anyways, I've been inside the Vesikko several times, it's open during the summer. Really recommend it!

I don't know what the best methode is for encoding movies with best quality.
If I use less compression the file-size will exceed 100mb. So if anyone can tell me with program+codecs to use I'll be very happy.

Anyway. Here is an other Uboat propaganda movie.
And please don't post this link on other forums.

Sorry for the late reply but I was on vacation and I went to Yes!!

I took lots of pictures with 2 different camera's

I kept them on their original resolution for the best quality. The pics on set2 might be to big but what the heck.

Enjoy the pics.
