Map Screen Sound Question

If the 3d is disabled, the map screen is awful quiet. I can hear active sonar and weapons launch, but not the background engine sound, available in other screens. Does anyone know if there is a way to enable the engine or other sounds while viewing the map?

I think the 'Enable 3D Sounds' option would do this in SC. I may, however, be mistaken, and if not, it may not work as so in DW.

I tried this when I got home and no dice. I wonder if there is a file to edit. I tried the configuration file but couldn't find anything.
