Look at the full Wellington Airplane Sensor file SNS

There is no entry for radar after June 1944 :o , so does this mean they want to remove the radar from the Wellington after June 1944?

I doubt it. Looks to me another entry for a more modern Mark VI or Mark VII was meant to be added in there. Any comments??

That's it. Nothing more.

Jungman, Can you tell me

1. where I can download the increased visual mod and
2. will this help your watch crew spot planes at a farther distance?

Shelton.

It is in the thread "beyond visual range 8 km"

http://rapidshare.de/files/3185013/Sensors.dat.html
(goes to data/Library)

Look for CCIP link to it. It will increase you spotting range to the maximum of 10 km; but no more. To spot further will need to increase the 'World Size' larger.

There is a discussion Manuel Ortega in the Scene.dat file which sets clipping distance. It will put more load on youR CPU. It defines the basic world parameters.

Hi Jungman

I have decreased the max speed of allied aircraft to see if this helps - there is a link here:

http://rapidshare.de/files/3308824/aircraft_max_speed_mod.zip.html

So far my tests have shown that I have little more time to avoid aircraft (ie crash dive to a save depth)

Just one work around.

Shelton.

Yes, that will give your time to dive.

I wonder if anyone thinks about the Wellington having its radar removed in June 1944? It is a bug to me.

All the other aircraft generally is upgraded to MarkVII in June 1944 towards end.

If there should be radar on this airplane - then please put one in - im not too sure on the airraft side of things.

Shelton.

I would agree that if the plane has radar that it should be there. The same goes for the Avenger. I do have a concern about it, though. I am using the airpower mod. Jace fixed a loadout bug that the Wellington had (wouldn't drop bombs and stuff). I don't want one bug fixed and then another return. Maybe Jace could update it for the Airpower mod?

Yes, the Wellington model also needs to have it activated within its .dat file in order to add another sensor entry normally.

1) Place in another 'entry' as was left out and see if it works in game.
Unkown needs test.

2) Change the radar end date to 12-31-1945 end of war. Place in a radar set halfway in between, the ASVMark VI.
Guaranteed to work.

Here is 1).

StartDate=19430601
EndDate=19451231 ; War end date as other planes.

Avenger is an Aircraft Carrier Torpedo bomber. The CV carrier has its own radar, so do the DD.

I do not know if they meant the Avenger to have a radar set. The are station on a Carrier. They bomb you purely by Visual. Anyone using the snorkel have these boys show up to party :P ?

The Avengers role on an aircraft carrier may preclude its role as a radar search plane.

Edit: fixed a mistype.

bump.

Anyone care about this? I saw in game again the Wellington airplane does indeed have no radar after June 1944 making them hardly a threat.

By adding in the missing text, the radar works again.

Surprised no one cares about this glaring bug :-? And use the fix?

Yea I do but am at work now. AFAIK, the Avenger and even the Swordfish did have radar installed later in the war if they were used in the ASW role. I read up yesterday on the sinkling of the I-52 (it was posted here) and the Avenger had radar and even used sonobouys (primitive ones) to drop a fido and kill the sub.

Pester Beery / CCIP / whoever to get that fix in asap for RuB 1.44, I reckon!

I think I am a bit confused here. :-? So, all I have to do is change the date in the Wellington's SNS file? Why does the DAT need info changed? Is that because you added another radar set instead of changing the date on the Mark III? Should the Wellington have another radar after the Mark III? To change the DAT, that would require hex editing. I still don't know what I'm doing with that. :-?

Yes i care
i love planes, and the fact that a Wimpy never bombed the sh i t outta me, bugs me top never ending.

even worse is/ i get to shoot down NO wimpys :x cause they dont dive in on me.

Thank you for bumping this up, and i look forward to be bashed bw the coastal Command from now on.

Avengers:
IIRC they HAD radar- in the last months of WW2 -- OR?
later tehy were used as irborn Radars, covering the whole hemisphere ariound the Convoy or task Force. but thats 1946 stuff i guess.

So, all I have to do is change the date in the Wellington's SNS file?

Yes just use a simple text editor in the airplane folder *.sns file. The plane was added in the last patch 1.4. The devs just forgot to add the last entry in the text file in SNS folder. No hex editing needed, just cut and paste the fix in.

Great!

So the DAT and EXE accepted the fourth entry into the Wellington's SNS file? It is lethal now? :88)

Thanx Jungman,

Your knack for catching these details is never ending.
Great little fix I'm adding right now.

Is the Wellington accurate? I was looking at the tga from the dat file, and it shows a twin-tail (Liberator-style) configuration, while the references I have show a single-tail (Sunderland-style)...what gives?

One posted it is the Liberator with a Wellington skin to save patch space.

I'm not sure about saving patch space, but I do know for sure the Wellington is based on the Liberator.
