I'm looking for non-fiction book suggestions on submarine warfare. I'm new to subsims and I'd like to get more familiar with the general systems and tactics. Any books come to mind? I realize that there won't be any one book that is ideal? Please and thank you!

Cold war submarines: The design and construction of Soviet submarines 1945-2001 by Norman Polmar

Really great book, even has good background information on stuff like the German type XXI and how it influenced sub design. Also has really interesting comparisons on how the USN and Soviets did things differently given their respective situations.

Edit: Didn't see that you already beat me to it Julhelm!

Complete Idiot's Guide to Submarines (The Complete Idiot's Guide) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0028644719/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_KdmqzbQD73ACQ

Unfortunately it is no longer in print and the only copies available for sale are pricey used ones. Check it out from a library if you get the chance.

Start with Blind Man's Bluff by Sheryl Zontag, then move to a good reference book like Submarine: A Guided Tour Inside A Nuclear Warship (Tom Clancy)

then if you like, these are my suggestions:

Submarine Torpedo Tactics: An American History - Edward M. Jones
History of Russian Underwater Accoustics - Oleg A. Godin
Stalking the Red Bear - Peter Sasgen
Making a Submarine Officer - Alex C Fleming
Watertight: How I survived submarine service without loosing my mind - Karl William Heckmann
Submarine Operations during the Falklands - Lt. Cmdr Steven R. Harper
Secrets of the Conqueror - Stuart Prebble
Red November - W Craig Reed
SSN - Tom Clancy
Scorpion Down - Ed Offley
Submarine Design and Development - Norman Friedmann
Cold Choices - Larry Bond
Wahoo - Richard O'Kane

Edit: Almost forgot:
Fleet Tactics and Coastal Combat - Wayne P. Hughes (Awesome book on naval tactics)
