View Full Version : What to do after you have been spotted?

Took a few years off and trying to get back into it......

I had 3 warships approaching me so I programmed a solution into the TDC for the leading ship. All my torpedoes missed alerting them of my presence.

The 3 ships are now circling around, dropping depth charges all over the place. What suggestions are there for destroying at least one of these ships? I descended to about 300ft and sneaked away from them somewhat but they are still circling the area but their actions have been unpredictable for some time now, always turning and adjusting speed etc.

Is it over? Should I find more unsuspecting ships to destroy or can I still engage these 3 unpredictable ships?

I also would like to know how to 'un-program' the TDC just on the off chance that a ship passes my bow or stern. At the moment the torpedoes are programed to make a sharp turn after leaving the sub, how do I make the torpedo shoot directly ahead of me or behind me? No matter what I try the torpedoes are programmed to turn after I programmed them for my first (failed) attempt at destroying the first warship.

Any help appreciated.

Sounds prickly to me. I would try and get them to move apart from each other somehow. Still somewhat of a noob at this game so not exactly sure how you would do that. Of course you could always tell your crew to prepare ship for ramming speed. :haha:

Should I find more unsuspecting ships to destroy ...?

This is my advice.

Unless I misunderstand, and you want to set up a boresight shot, just set the bearing (put scope on 000/180) and speed to zero. AoB and range shouldn't matter if periscope and speed are zeros. Turn the PK off.

I wouldn't engage them until they completely move on. That would take at least a few hours in game time. The chances of a hit are really low, but you can expect them to keep you pinned down every time you make a sound. Each time you fire a torpedo they know exactly where you are. They will sink you eventually.

Sounds like escorts looking for you. For the most part leave them alone. Your chance of hitting one is not good. Now, if you know their course previously, you could try to get ahead on that track as eventually they'll get back in formation and head back to their course.

In the past, for fun, when I had several escorts doing circle searches, i would mark that area, get long range parallel and shoot 10 torps by the wire covering that zone, usually get a few hits.

You have gone from being the hunter to being the hunted...Just move along and find another target. If they are escorts I wouldn't waste the time and torpedoes on them. Unless you feel the need to sink escorts.

Agreed with Armistead and Donna. Just get deep, get silent. When you hear the splashes of the depth charges, then go to flank until they explode. :|\\
