Is there a mod to make the speed, depth and directional gauges in the control room larger when you scroll over them?

A lot of times it takes to long to find the area you want to select when in the heat of battle. It would be nice if they were larger when you scroll over them to make a selection.

I just downloaded the OTC mod, that one has gauges that enlarge when you run your mouse over them. I can't remember, but I think TMO has it too. They also have a little more contrast too.
... or do you mean the actual control room and not the HUD gauges that are always there?

Yes I am talking about the HUD gauges that are always there. They already enlarge or enhance when you scroll over them in the stock game and in Version 1.5 but I was wondering if there was a mod that made them larger still?

MaxOptics, I copied a link to several different versions. There are more, I think. You need to download the version for your game setup.

The read me says that the files have to be inserted into a mod file directly located in the SH4 main files.
Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific/Mods/Magnified Hud files for v1.5 ........

but when I go into the main Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific there is no mod file to put it into. I have the v.1.5 version loaded.

Mods FOLDER, not FILE. If your Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\MODS folder doesn't exist, right click inside the Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific folder, select create new folder, name it MODS.

Do you have JSGME? Got a \Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\MODS folder? I haven't seen the readme for a while, but as I recall I copied JSGME.exe, JSGME.ini and JSGMEHelp.txt into the main \Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific folder. Then created a new folder named MODS, then switched to the temp folder where I unzipped \Magnified HUD Dials MAIN Folder_1.4. Open that folder and there are two subfolders inside;

Magnified HUD Dials for v1.4_Large
Magnified HUD Dials for v1.4_Medium

I want the medium sized dials, so I open Magnified HUD Dials for v1.4_Medium and see a Data folder - if I wanted to do it manually instead of with JSGME I would copy that Data folder into the main \Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific folder, yes to overwrites. Don't panic, that won't delete any existing files or overwrite all of them, it will only overwrite the ones with the same filename as the files in the mod.

The advantage of JSGME for those not in the habit of backing up files is that you can UNDO the overwrites. So when you find a data folder, the one that it's in is the one that goes into the Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\MODS folder. For example the path is

C:\Downloads\TempFiles\sh4 mods\Magnified HUD Dials MAIN Folder_1.4\Magnified HUD Dials for v1.4_Large\Data
you want to go up one folder from Data, copy the \Magnified HUD Dials for v1.4_Large
into
Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific\MODS

Then fire up JSGME.exe and see if the new mod is listed for install.

Mods FOLDER, not FILE.

OK lets start from the beginning.
All I have done so far is load up the standard version of SH4.
Then I bought the Uboat missions which also included the version 1.5 upgrade.
I don't know what JSGME is and I don't have a mods file in my SH4 main file.

Okay, for starters you keep saying "file" when you mean "folder". A file is ONE thing, a FOLDER contains one or many FILES.

http://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showthread.php?304396-Windows-Explorer-for-dummies

Best way to start at the beginning is to learn basic computer operation and file/folder management so you're putting your car in the garage instead of trying to stuff it in the freezer.

Download JSGME here;

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=4333

And there's a user guide here;

If you intend to install and uninstall mods of any type, that is the beginning, so you might as well take time out and learn to use JSGME.

Sorry I am talking about folders when I say file. My bad. Let me look at the JSMGE link you just sent me before moving on.
I used to do this all the time but it it has been something like 5 years since I played around with folders or modding. Used to do it in the old SH2 and destroyer command days.
European Air War was one of my favorites that we used to play with the files (yes I meant to say files) all the time. We would change the bomber count from a very small amount until they filled the skies. Looked so realistic.
anyway moving on.
thank you very much for your help. Be back shortly.

Here's a problem.
Subsim won't let me download the JSGME or the readme.
It says I've reached my limit of downloads for the day.
Thing is I haven't downloaded anything today.

Alright solved that problem.
Made a donation to become a full time member.
Wish I could have done more but I only use a small debit card for any online stuff and I have to put more on the card.

Does JSGME.exe allow you to just move mods in and out of the game with no problems?
What about putting multiple mods in, are they all compatible or is there a list to show you which ones will work with which?

"Does JSGME.exe allow you to just move mods in and out of the game with no problems?"

Yes, if you read the directions and use it properly - for example you install a mod that overwrites cameras.dat then manually replace cameras.dat with a different one it can blow up. JGSME is mainly for those who aren't "power users", people who are comfortable with managing and backing up safe copies of files or folders.

"What about putting multiple mods in, are they all compatible..."

No. Some mods will conflict, especially mods which overwrite the same file with different info.

"...or is there a list to show you which ones will work with which?"

Yes, if you try to install something that might conflict JGSME will pop up a warning telling you which files have already been overwritten and by which already installed mod, and gives you the option to install anyway or cancel. Not completely failsafe, if you have SH4 1.4 and install a 1.5 mod, usually it will find no conflicts but the game crashes anyway because one of the data files references 1.5 files which don't exist in a 1.4 version. For example the Weapons.upc in your 1.4 version is the original, a new 1.5 mod wants to overwrite that file, JGSME has no problem with that since the Weapons.upc file has not been overwritten by any previous mod. But the new Weapons.upc has references to U-boat weapons, and the files it's calling for don't exist in a 1.4 game. Easily fixed tho, JGSME saves a backup of the original Weapons.upc so it will replace that when you uninstall the 1.5 Das Boot mod. It actually calls it "enable" and "disable" rather than install or uninstall, but it's basically the same thing, an automated backup - copy - paste - restore gadget.

I downloaded the zip file for the JSGME application and opened it up. Saved the extracted folder in a generic folder on my desktop. It gave me another folder called JSGME.
Do I just take the folder that says JSGME and put it into my base SH4 folder or do I have to take all of the contents of that folder and put in SH4 base foler? The contents are as listed:
MODS (folder)
JoneSoft (Text document)
JSGME (application)
JSGME (configuration settings)
JSGME help (text document)

Got it working. So far I have only put the gauge magnifier in but it works.
Thanks guys.
