Is there a way to download without steam?

I want to try the game, but seams like all the downloads are via steam (which I hate). Is there a way to download the game without going through steam?

I guess I could snail mail it...

Even if you buy an on-disc version, you'll still need Steam to play it.

But since Steam isn't the Boogeyman, that's not really the end of the world, is it? :O:

I've had nothing but issues with steam over the years. A lot of it is because I do a lot of modding on my own and sometimes steam doesn't like it. I also have issues with Steam knowing how long I play which games... its like big brother monitoring your activities.:88):dead:

Guess I won't be playing this game then. :(

Steam doesn't interfere with modding by itself (Except when it auto-patches games, which you can disable), plenty of games I have on Steam have been thoroughly modded at once point or another, and NWAC seems to be fairly moddable.
