I just loaded the US Medals Fix II Mod and my computer locks up when loading because it is looking for a file named Black80.tga in the Data/Menu/Data folder.

Can anyone help me? PLEASE.

Try unloading the US Medals Fix II Mod and see if that does it.http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-confused005.gif

If you don't solve it eventually, ditch this mod. It is a mere spec of sand when compared to other game aspects so you should not waste your time on in. I mean, medals! Blimey!

The games works without the mod.

Patient says: Doc, it hurts when I go like this (wiggles finger).
Doc says: Don't go like that.

Hah! VonTrapp nails it. And his children sing beautifully too.

Get it? "So long, farewell, aufwindersen goodbye!"? Rings a bell? No?

But I would like to find this file (black80.tga) if anyone has ever heard of it.

Thanks.

It's part of stock SH IV and is located in folder Data\Menu\Data.

Well masterkiller63, an error message relating to the "black" files usually means that you have a mod that is not compatible with your version of Silent Hunter 4. If you have a Steam v1.3, then you will most likely have to purchase and use the Steam Uboats Missions add-on. If you have Steam, you have to use Steam. If you have an Amazon v1.4 download, or a Ubisoft disk v1.4, then you would need to purchase the Uboat Missions add-on, but NOT from Steam. You could also purchase a full "Gold Edition" of Silent Hunter 4, which comes with the v1.5 Uboat Missions add-on. Check the mod's documentation though, for any information on which version of the game it is compatible with.

If such is not the case, then the question would be "did you install the DirectX v9.0c and the Windows Media Codecs when you installed Silent Hunter 4?"...

As Aktungbby says: "Welcome to SubSim!" :subsim: :salute:

Not a DX9 issue, that file is only in SH4 version 1.5, version 1.4 is missing that one and several others. Been a long time, but as I recall there's a physics patch that's labeled for 1.4 and 1.5, but the 1.4 game crashes with that mod because there are CFG files for ships that aren't in 1.4, they were added in 1.5.
Check lower right corner of the menu screen, if it doesn't say version 1.5 most mods won't work until you update.
