Ahoy me Hearties!!!

I'm at 1943, shipped out from Pearl at July 1st, now its September 12th, and I cant find ships...

They are now always outbound, none seeming to come to and have a taste of the magnetic exploder (which is dud) in the Mk18s...

My renown declined from 2506 to only 6, after purchasing 5 X500 Mk18s back at Pearl.

I'm inclined to say that weather has been turbulent but for the most part, it was calm. I decided to head to the equator (since after reading wiki's article on the magnetic pisol (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_pistol), specifically:

"During World War II (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II), magnetic pistols often exploded prematurely or not at all. The reason was that magnetic lines are more horizontal close to the equator than towards the poles. For example, the US Mark 6 magnetic pistol was designed and tested only once at 41° latitude (60° geomagnetic latitude (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geomagnetic_latitude)) at Narragansett Bay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narragansett_Bay), but was primarily used in equatorial latitudes.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnetic_pistol#cite_note-0) At the equator, the signal strength to the Mark 6 magnetic pistol was only about half that of where the Mark 6 was tested."

Not a single inbound ship, a month after dusting off, came to.

When I'm done with these, I'll set course to Pearl, and once I arrive, I'll personally strangle the BuOrd QM, with my hairy hands... Oh yes sir, it will be hairy....

There are no "equator" values in the game. I realize you play 1.3, but why not step up to 1.4?

Can't help you with stock traffic, it's fubar.

I tell you, I've sunk a ship every 3 days since last patrol. This one is indeed jinxed...Guai - lo :D

So, after camping for a while at Palau, Melekeok, I suddenly bump into a large Fr. How my radar didnt detect it, is a question I'll never grasp.

I forgot, I removed all crew from the conning tower, so thats why..

Anyhow, he spotted me, in dead calm waters, and radios in a Subchaser, which arrives no later than 15 minutes and starts pinging..

So, I dive to 45 meters and the bastard DCs me, and disables 2 bulkheads, so I surface to engage him and with my bad luck get the Fubuki stationed also at Melekeok, in sight. Both shooting the crap outta me...

So, I destroy that 400 GRT chaser and dive, with 2 destroyed bulkheads, and suddenly receive a shell on my way down to fore and aft conning tower, also damaging but not destroying two bulkheads.. started to flood quickly and then the bastard finishes the job...

I'm diving uncontrollably to 130 meters in my Balao, and then I sink..:nope:

I will reload a pre-event save, and get the hell out of there first thing, right after I put the crew back to the conning tower...

How could I be that stupid.. :o

this meek patrol got me learning two things...

1) never go too far away from base
2) always be agressive (even if you have to be damaged)

from the second point, I got two zekes throwing about 8 bombs bullseye and I managed to dive this time with a partially damaged propeller,

diesels, electrics, bulkheads, and radio.

I wish I had extcam on. Anyways this is a truly jinx patrol.

The zero (zeke) carries bombs in SH4? It was my impression that they only did recon.

But we shot them down by the grace of our Lord:salute:

There is a mod that removes them from RSRD.
