I've had one save game my entire career, right from the beginning since Pearl Harbour.

It was March 1944 in my game, and now it seems to of corrupted and won't load. Everything ruined. Whole career gone up in smoke!!!! :(

I REALLY should keep a backup copy from now on. :damn::damn::damn:

Oh well, now that I'm running the new RSRD campaign layers, it might be better. The one thing I did have a slight problem with that campaign.....a good 98% of my sinkings were lone ships throughout the whole career. I barely came across any convoys. Perhaps RSRD will change that.

Dude, the first thing I do each weekend, is open up my Docs/SH4 and backup the career. I run a mix of minor mods such as PE, 3000, OTC, Websters air patrols mod. Now I also create a snapshot of mod sequence and thankfully, when the game goes berserk, a reinstall and an overwrite gets me to where I am. Dont be mad, and we'll eventually sink'em all. Backup, Backup, Backup. Never forget that.

With RSRD think historical, you'll find large convoys and TF, 30-60 ships.

Yeah, before I ran RSRD seriously, pretty much every ship I sank right from end of 41 through to 44 were loners sailing without convoy or protection.

Few convoys encountered, kinda took away some of the atmosphere. Hopefully, from what you have said, RSRD changes that :D

Actually, it is my understanding that, historically, large Japanese convoys were the exception rather than the rule. That's not to say that large convoys never took place, just that the vast majority were small 2 to 5 ship convoys or unescorted singles. The IJN just didn't have the number of escorts needed to implement a large convoy standard like the allies did.

The Jap did move to a larger convoy system in the beginning of 44. With RSRD you won't see large convoys much until then. The IJN's Escort headquarters changed convoy structure due to to provide escort coverage, plus they didn't have to have as many convoys scattered about. Most were 10-20 ships, some larger. They actually had a drop in sinkings once they did this, but probably due more to subs being used then to support US TF. This also allowed better planning of air cover. The problem is it was too late, poorly ran by untrained officers, a logistic challange and had no real effect on the outcome.

The JP's also had many large invasion forces the first two years of the war containing many ships 30-50, this is historically correct and part of RSRD. Many of these were huge groups of merchants and warships. Obviously this is early war, so they basically moved at will with a large navy and merchant fleet. After 42 you won't find many large invasion groups with RSRD until 44.

Take the invasion of Java. There were several invasion groups, but RSRD scripts this one well and probably the largest in the mod. They'e many other large invasion groups, the Philippines, Borneo, Rabaul, Port Moresby, Lae, etc..

The Take Ichi convoy was often large as it moved many soldiers.

I find RSRD gets the convoy structure historically close, you'll see large invasion groups early war, then convoys get smaller, but increase in size in late 43, but moreso 44. Lurker actually used the JP convoys records that list all convoys in a PDF doc. I'll try to find and post it.
