I hate to say this but judging from the graphics it doesn't bode well . . . .Let's hope the gameplay is another story.

It does state that all those screenshots are pre-alpha - they can only get better. That means the a/c on the carriers will eventually get undercarriage!

I think that overall it's looking great considering the stage it's at.

Sorry, but; How do graphics even matter for this? :-?

They could be boxes for all I care, what I'd like to see is a modern tactical naval game. Harpoon, Fleet Command, Dangerous Waters, all great, but it all feels rather dated in terms of interface. "Clunky" doesn't even begin to describe it in most cases. Not to mention Fleet Command has graphical problems on modern systems, the last Harpoon I bought was the bug-ridden mess from hell and DW is just too limited in available platforms to keep coming back to (talking about single player only).

Looks fine to me, looking forward to seeing more of it.

I hope this developer isn't seduced by the 'Let's make this game visually gorgeous' mentality like so many others have and forsake gameplay.

Oh, no not at all. I am a member of their forum, so I have asked questions of my own and know the goal of the devs, which is to make a realistic, yet fun, naval warfare game. They and much of the community, including me, want awesome graphics, but their main goal is to make a very fun, easy to play game. The graphics are secondary to gameplay.

They´ve said they would. I mean, balancing gameplay fun and realism. When I´ve asked, I also mentioned why wouldnt the chinese navy be included, when its focused on a scenarion 30 years in the future. No answer.

And btw, those screens; there´s something about those pics, not only the stylised icons, but there´s something strange. Looks like they´re still in early pre-pre alpha stage. Those cant be actual gameplay!

I´m putting my chips in a sim called Command: Naval/Air Operations which appears more solid, independent and to the point. More like a modern Harpoon.

I wonder why they dont have a forum here at Subsim.

Former Red Pill? There's a few threads discussing it/showing it off.

I recall JanH did reply to you. Oh, look at that, here it is!

"Hello and welcome stormridersp,

Thanks for your frank comments.

We have positive plans for a Pacific-based sequel to Naval War: Arctic Circle, where the Chinese have a prominent role.

We definitely have no plans for any C&C-style game. You'll just have to wait and see what we come up with; I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

In comment to your geopolitical opinions, I can do no better than the great Adam Savage: I reject your reality and substitute my own!

Peace!"

The icons are not USNI because they want them to be something everyone, not just hardcore naval gamers, can recognize. The game is still in pre-alpha, and if you had not just dismissed NWAC you would know this.

Is the game 1:1 scale like Dangerous Waters or Silent Hunter? Or is it reduced scale like a conventional RTS/RTT? The reason I ask is because the ships in the CSG are sailing a little too close for a combat situation.

That's a shame. Hopefully there'll be a mod released that changes the icons into USNI.

NWAC is an RTS, so you cannot directly control units from bridge/sonar/CIC ect. It does allow very detailed control though. Those screenshots are just for show, so the units will be much further apart in full-game scenarios.
