A film not seen for 65 years comes to light. Cool stuff!

Nice stuff. I'm always leary about the "65 years in a shoebox" angle, but hey, you never know. No matter though - the footage is real, they guy is real, the rescue was real, and that's what counts. Even if it's archived somewhere else, it's the first time that he's seen it, and those memories should never be forgotton.

Cool find. Thanks, Luke! :salute:

Thanks for that Luke! Some great footage there. That's the first time I've seen this. That Bomber crew sure had someone watching over them that day.

In the 1600s everybody was struggling to gain a foothold in the new world, including the Dutch. They carved out a stake on Manhattan Island and named it New Amsterdam. During the Anglo-Dutch trade wars it passed back and forth between England and The Netherlands, until the entire eastern seaboard was united under English rule in 1674 and the colony became New York.

Of course a lot more immigrated later, but that was the beginning of the Dutch ancestry of so many Americans. :sunny:

Why should it be Dutch blood and not Flemish?

Way back in SH1 they had lifeguard duty. If you were in the right position you would see the planes fly over, and you might see them fly back. If you were close enough you would see them bomb the target.

The downed flyers looked like Weebles, though. :sunny:

Did UBI do SH 1? Sounds like SH 1 was a great subsim but with bad graphics and lacking crew.Think how great they could make a PTO subsim now if they just had the will.

No. SH1 was done before Ubi bought out SSI and ruined everything. SH1 had great graphics...for 1996.
