Mission: An agent of friendly intelligence will board your sub. Bring him to Honshu.

Yes sir! :salute:

Agent inserted, coming back home, met one DD and sank it but nothing special. Then "AIRCRAFT SPOTTED!!!" in the middle of the mother*******ing sea. No problem yet, it was a betty bomber and they have a huge range. Then, another aircraft spotted scream, this time Val Dive-bomber.. :hmmm: Getting a little annoyed here, those guys are flying at about hundred miles away from Midaway airbase... Third one: Aircraft spotted!! This time Zero.. :hmmm::hmmm:

Those guys are getting cocky.. Really, where they summon Zeros to midway or even near Pearl Harbor since Zeros had only 3000 kilometres flying range...?

EDIT: here is a pic about next mission (again agent stuff) where same happened again

And this time even Wake island is quite far...

Well, in the real thing you would calling in the presence of a carrier in your area of operations. Now, in-game, consider it a Jap secret weapon (invisible carriers) :D

Stock sucks. I doubt the battle of Midway was going on. They did have an airfield at Wake early war. Mods like TMO deal with aircraft, you won't see Zero's unless a carrier is near and cut down on the traffic.

Yup, ran into the same thing when I was playing stock. Dozens of planes spawning out of thin air and well west of Midway. I thought (at first) it might be a carrier and tried in vain to locate their source (via sonar and endless searching) but, nothing was found. First they were spawning in front of me, then behind me and in rediculous numbers.

With TMO I can safely approach the 150 longitude with literally no aircraft interceptions (depending on which period of the war). Once to the west of 150 that's when I have to start being careful.

It was 2 months before Midaway if we believe wikipedia.. Well, I found a way how to make aircraft less efficient. When you can (when you have batteries and air) go to periscope depth and don't rise the periscope.. At 1942 you can't hear those planes so you won't have a problem with time compression changes which mostly annoys me.

Well.. Japs need to have some secret weapon as we have mushroombombs.. :D

That'll work in stock, because planes in stock can't see you if you are submerged. However, in TMO they can. So if you mash time compression at merely periscope depth, you are going to eventually eat plane-delivered explosives up your aft tubes.... if you catch my meaning.

But yah, if I'm seeing Zeros in TMO, I snoop around for a carrier.

I remember trying (incompetently) to do that in stock, but never found one. From what people say, Zeros could spawn over open ocean in stock with no carrier in sight. So I guess I was wastin my time with that.

Lost my first Cleveland trying to do that. I was so sure I was getting close...
