CURRENT ORDERS

SCHOTTE: DEPART ON 09, OCT 1939 FOR AM54 AREA AS PART OF GRUPPE "OKTOBERFEST". HUNT FOR CONVOYS AND SINGLE SHIPPING WORKING THE WESTERN APPROACHES. AVOID ALL ENEMY WARSHIP CONTACTS. DO NOT ATTACK CAPITOL SHIPS AT THIS POINT IN THE HOSTILITIES. YOU MAY ENGAGE ENGLISH, FRENCH AND POLISH SHIPPING.

STANDING ORDERS

ALL "OKTOBERFEST" BOATS MUST USE THE KIEL KANAL.
ALL BOATS WILL REPORT STATUS 'REGULARLY'(*)
ALL BOATS WILL REPORT CONVOYS BEFORE ATTACKING.(1)
"OKTOBERFEST" BOATS DEPARTING ON 09,OCT AND USING SH3 WEATHER WILL USE:
Wind SE, LIGHT, CLOUDS OVERCAST, RAIN NONE (SH3weather settings).


(*) DEPENDS ON REAL LIFE DUTIES, TC USE AND POSSIBLE RADIO DAMAGE IN THE SIM.
(1) BE SURE TO USE 'SDD' ("URGENT") IN YOUR ENCODED MESSAGE.

Oberleutnant zur See Fritz Schauer has received orders to report to UAS for Commander courses. Also, Oberfahnrich Hans Scholl has been transferred to another U-boat.

This leaves U-99 short two officers, so we are holding in port awaiting replacement crew. Departure is expected to be delayed by at least one week if estimates from Military Personnel are correct.

Die Leistung der gesamten Mannschaft in Aktion während der Streife, verdient das höchste Lob. Alle Stationen waren besetzt zeitnah und ohne Verwirrung. Ihr Verhalten wurde von ganzen Begeisterung, Aufmerksamkeit und Hingabe an die Pflicht manifestiert. Allerdings, dass die folgenden besondere Anerkennung verdienen:

HASLEY, Heinz, Matrosengefrieiter. Obwohl dies nur seinem 3. Patrol, wirkt er wie ein Veteran. Sein rasches Handeln während der externen Torpedo Laden verhindert den Verlust der Ausrüstung Nachladen. Seine Ernennung zum Matrosenobergetreiter wird empfohlen.

Several German sailors reporting to be the crew of U-99 were fished out of the sea north of Scapa Flow. Appears that their U-boat may have hit a mine that broke lose. Some flotsam detected in the area that appears to be wreckage but due to depth, recovery will be impossible.

Returning to port so that prisoners can be transferred for further interrogation.


All my saves have somehow been corrupted so it looks like I'm going to have to start a new career. :damn:

I take it you don't have a backup of your documents/SH3/career folder?
I made the mistake of messing with the Sh3commander rollback button (awful thing) before and messing up my original enigma career. Is it the Invalid date error?

No, I need to start backing up that folder. I'm getting the CTD error.

The problem is that my My Documents folder is mapped to a network drive on my corporate network (I play on a work laptop) and I think that confuses it sometimes. I'm going to start backing it all up to a local folder after each session.

I'll start a new career, run a shakedown cruise and then jump into the Sept '39 patrols if that will work.

Will do. Just completed my shakedown cruise and am still stationed out of Königsberg prior to transfer to Kiel. I'll post in the Roster thread and update the map so that all my specifics can get recorded.

Oblt Schotte is MIA and presumed KIA, so we can unsticky this thread and let it sink to the bottom (pun intended)! :dead:
