Running Stock 1.5 - 6 or 7 patrols into a career

Just refueled at Midway on the way to patrol off Japan. The date is mid August 1942 well after the battle of Midway. About 200 hundred miles out my radar picked up two aircraft. Thinking they were US I basically ignore them and upped the time compression. Next thing I know I'm being attacked by two Zeros. I was totally unprepared.

Where the heck did these planes comee from? As far as I'm aware there were no Japanese carriers any where near Midway at that time. I know the Zero had a huge range but nothing like this!!

Where does Japanese air cover stop?

I never say any Japanese planes on my previous Pearl Harbour until I got closer to Japanese held territory

It's probably from Wake Island. Remember the Japs had the Marshal Islands and those Zero's had an impressive range.:03:

Thanks for the map.

The funny thing is that whean I first say they were zeros I thought that they might have been US as my movie at the end of my previous patrol mentioned that the US had captured one.

The enemy aircraft in stock are not that realistic with regards to patrol ranges etc. You should check out either TMO or one of the "stand-alone" mods which address the enemy aircraft activity.

I drew a 1000NM circle around wake and sure enough, I was well in side of it

It is a bug in the stock game.

The CV airgroups spawn even without the CV's around. In this case they are from the Battle of Midway forces.
