Hello mates!
Please do forgive me some questions; I searched forum but found no answers.
I have a problem with a collision in which destroyer sunks allmost everytime and my sub gets only minor damage; despite having game with patch 1.4 succesfully installed.
I got some other problems but these are mentioned by some members and can live with it...

Why losing sound effects in slight time compression? Quite nasty while avoiding escorts as I am forced to stay in 1:1 time compression to hear ping of enemy sonar.

Should I buy GOLD EDITON? I do not care for U-Boot Missions so are there any enhancments for the SH 4 besides 1.4 patch?

And is there any Hall of Fame or something like that? There is no record of my previous carreers?

P.s. I use only small aircraft mode to decrease number of night attacks.

I apologize to members and administrators for my bad English and if I missed something before I asked.

Best regards, Andy.

Your English is very good!

As to the no pinging in TC 1.5 will not solve this problem, I have 1.5 and it is the same.

Welcome aboard mate. :salute: No problem with your English, very good.

The 1.5 patch in the U boat addition is worth it, fixes some of the bugs in 1.4
One of them is the DD sinking with the periscope shears I believe, not too sure as I try to avoid such things.

All the new mods are for the gold edition 1.5 so if you decide to go with mods you'll need it.

There is a Hall of Fame of sorts in the office, look to the left side of the screen and click on the chalk board.

Using time compression during a depth charge attack is not such a good idea, they can sneak up on you very easy doing that.

Good luck and good hunting.

I spent almost all night reading this forum and I am truly amazed by the effort of this respected community to enhance Silent Hunter 4.
My U-Boot mission pack is on the way allready! :DL

And then? "Real fleet boats 2.0" is all I need?
All about realistic gunnery, sub & ship damage model etc. is there?
There is no manual for 2.0 but I red 1.54 version manual.

Is it true ships won't be visible on the map regardless what I choose in game options? A bit scary!

I am in SH since 1997 and still play patched and upgraded SH CE.

Cheers and I hope not bothering You.

Andy, Croatia, Europe.

Yes but there are ways and mods to bring back the contacts and such so you can transition into the game with getting totally frustrated right off the bat.

Thank You very much. I'l post that question (retrieving ship contacts on tactical map) after recieving my U-Boot expansion and installing RFB 2.0.

Best regards!

Andy

Andy,

try plotting contact information yourself. Map-contact-updates is the biggest cheat in the game. You'd be surprised how easy it is to hunt without map updates on. Without 'truth', you rely on vision, radar, and sonar if need be, and you _estimate_ your target's information. Get into the science of target motion analysis (TMA). Over time you accumulate information about your target: Use it. For me, this is the best part of the game. And you sound very enthusiastic, so I think you might enjoy the _real_ approach. Go for pure manual targetting and map contacts off!

Dear KeelBuster, thank You. Do not worry, I use manual TDC, and don't get me wrong, I find it easy to use.
Visible map contacts is useful for me only to get feeling how close I may be on the surface before escorts react, and stuff like that.

I am truly impressed by efforts of this community and will make a money donation right away to show my gratitude.

I graduated history in 2009. on subject "U.S. Civil War 1861-1865" and have a great interest for a long time in submarine warfare in Pacific during WW2.

Cheers!
