Hi!

just asking: it is not possible to play SHIV in a multiplayer/multistation mode or is it? I'm wondering if an interesting sociology experiment (1 week realtime, 3 persons) would be feasible...:D

Do you mean playing one game at 1x for 1 week?:o

yeah, a friend of mine, non-player (so far) who studies literature at uni recently told me that this would be "fun". closing all curtains, eating canned food and experiencing ultimate boredom with moments of sheer horror mixed in:rock:

I would be all for it! But you know the real life of bills and food, etc... I have to work to maintain that. If I recieved a small grant for a week of living, then I'd be for sure!:yep:

The challenge will be to build the mission lasts one week.
The enemy must be in contact with the submarine in the game if not permanently close the game and everything stops. Then it will organize watch.

In SHIV it's not possible to play MP with multiple humans in one sub (which I believe is what your driving at). I believe in Dangerous Waters it is possible (ie. one person as skipper, another as sonar etc) but speaking from experience you REALLY have to know your sonar to play that game effectively, LOL.

I don't think a week of playing is practical or feasible due to RL commitments of most people but at least a day or two would be an interesting experiment. Having said that I'm sure there's some real hard-core gamers out there who have pulled all-nighters (must be nice to have that kind of free time, LOL) and have no life, LOL.

That aspect of MP (a human at each station) would certainly add something to the game in MP IMHO. It would be interesting to 'sit' at the hydrophones and info a human skipper on sound contacts while yet another human player at the engine controls or dive controls reacts to the skippers commands etc. I thought that was the intent of Destroyer Command way back when?

I'd rather be in a wolf-pack of subs rather then be at one station for a week!:o
Or as in DC, each has their own destroyer/escort vessel to defend the convoy.
