If you place units within the convoy rows as aggressive they will break formation and race for contacts (submarines).

When they do this the whole convoy loses direction and some even go backwards trying to avoid each other.

All units within the convoy should be placed with a "defensive" doctrine.

Keep in this in mind when creating convoys with large amounts of ships, what will happen is a sea of confusion, the AI going backwards etc...

Use stock as a reference, you will see all the convoy units in rows are defensive.

Remember an aggressive Merchant will move towards your sub, defensive will move fast and away and somewhat hold formation.

Yep the convoys will not be perfect but you will get a better reactions from them and they will hold course much better while zig zagging.
