My system is Vista x64 I never able to play online.
I'm using a firewall(COMODO) and has designated DW.exe as trusted application which allows for incomng traffic but I never able to play online.
I play FreeFalcon 5 and Empire total War online without any problem.
Can anybody suggest me what to do?

Read the Dangerous Waters text files and documentation. There is some setup to do after you install the game. I had two network adapters and DW was referencing the first one which was wrong. After that, I have no problems hosting or playing Multiplayer missions.

Oh well I'll do that. Never had to read anything to play MP in my other games:D

Yeah I also had problems the first time I played it also. It's one of those things that you set up once, then don't have to worry about later on. I can't give you the directions off the top of my head, but I remember it had something to do with the adapters.txt file found in the DW directory. This file is generated every time the game DW is run. It lists all the network adapters found, when the game runs. If it chooses the wrong one, then the game does not work. Copy the correct entry into the INI file entry.
Perhaps I am getting ahead of myself. What do you mean when you say that you can't play multiplayer? What happens? Any error messages? Are you trying to connect to someone else? or are you hosting?

Hi Brick I can host but nobody seemed to be able to see me in the gameroom they are unable to connect. I've allowed my firewall to accept incoming connection to DW.exe.
I checked the adapter.txt and it seemed fine.
I suspect DW uses also additional exe other than DW.exe to accept incoming traffic.
an easy way to resolve issues like this is use Hamachi.
go here (http://logmein.com) and get hamachi^2
It's free, hassle free, secure, easy-to-use and will set up a virtual network, w/o having to configure ports and all of that other crap(gives me a headache sometimes)
Just make sure that the rest of your gaming buddies have it, then use the virtual IP that hamachi provides to establish and play a game.
:yeah:

Hamachi should be a last resort used only when you find yourself behind an ISP NAT system.
Otherwise the best and simplest way to get DW ready for multiplayer is to open those damn ports 2302-2400 tcp/udp and 6073 tcp/udp.
If you're using a modem-router then you have to redirect those ports to the pc inside your network on which DW is installed. Furthermore if you have one or more firewalls installed (lets say a software firewall on your pc and one in the router) configure the appropriate rules so that traffic outgoing on those ports is not blocked, and in case you want to host make sure incoming traffic on 2302-2400 and 6073 is let through to the ip corresponding to your pc.
Oh and to simplify your home network use static ip address not dynamic since they tend to screw up firewall rules.
Last but not least, READ THE DOCUMENTATION OF YOUR MODEM ROUTER. Thats the starting point that will explain how to carry out important tasks as doing port redirection, opening ports, creating firewall rules etc...

Hi Goldorak, I never have any problem paling online with other games such as Empire total war and Free Falcon 5. It's just DW that's giving me problem.
I checked the adapters.txt and it's fine. I set DW.exe in my firewall just like I set it with my other games which I play online with.
Oh well I need to try more often and then troubleshoot it right then I've only tried twice. Quite hard to find opponent for DW.
I suspect it's the firewall because DW seems to use a windows exe to accept incoming traffic and not just the game exe itself when playing online. My firewall doesn't like that. And it's actually quite weird as my other games accept incoming traffic only through the game exe.

I recently changed to a new ISP and had network issues ever since.
The problem here is(surprisingly) port settings are hardcoded in the technology(router) and cannot be toggled, even by your ISP. Their reason for this is better security and control of viruses and hacking of customers.
I thought this was kind of big-brotherish but given the circumstances, apps. like hamachi solved my network problem.

@suBB : you're right. I had forgotten that ISPs still gave locked down modem routers. Obviously if you can't hack into your modem-router (to configure the ports, create firewall rules etc...) then yes using Hamachi for internet play is necessary.
But if you have the fortune of using your own modem router, or an ISP approved modem router that is not locked down, and you're not behind some kind of ISP nat, then and only then Hamachi should be a last resort.
