Hi

Do I understand this all correctly in that you must log into the web site every 7 days to keep the program running even after you bought it??
wow
Yes, I fully do understand game domain and protection against piracy, please do not get me wrong. But often I work on a ship for 3 to 9 month deployments with no Internet connectivity. Military does that when your on Icebreakers way up north or way down south. This type and mode of protection would, by its nature, make the program a nogo and I am one who LOVES WWI Naval battles.
I hope it is not so, or there is a endround solution.
thanks

No. Actually the game connects to SES behind the scenes everytime you launch it. Only if you haven't launched the game for 7 days or more without internet access the license will be locked until you have access to the internet again.
I don't like this phoning home protection either, and so I did not buy Distant Guns nor Jutland...

If you're on the REAL war ship - why won't you play in a REAL game then? ;) Just kidding.

As for your question - it's sad but true. I know a few guys who also declined game by the reason of it's protection... Hope guys in SES know what they do...

Bummer. I'm afraid your rather unusual situation falls outside the parameters of our system. So, I have to advise you against purchasing. However, the demo would still work just fine for you without an internet connection, so if you find that entertaining, you can get it for free and use it indefinitely.

Just to clarify, once you buy the game, the system works as follows:

Each time you start the game, it attempts to connect to the SES server. If successful, the full features of the game will work just fine no matter how long it's been since you last played it.
Each time the game makes contact with the SES server, it records when that happened.
If the game is unable to connect to the SES server, then it checks its records to see when it last made contact. If it's been more than 7 days, the game will still run, but only as a demo. IOW, no campaign, no scenario editor, and time limits on the canned battles.
However, this is only temporary. As soon as the game is able to make contact, the full features start working again. This requires no effort from you other than starting the game where you have an internet connection.
So, in your situation, if you purchase the game, the full features will only work when you're ashore and for the 1st 7 days at sea; you'd just have a demo for the rest of your voyage. If you're feeling charitable, we're more than happy to take your money, but as a practical matter you'd be better served not buying the game.
