I'm sorry to inform you that there is currently no patch that addresses the connection issues but you can follow some basic steps to ensure SH4 is as stable as possible and minimize the number of dropped games.
If you or any of your fellow captains have a router or firewall, double check to make sure all your ports are properly forwarded for SH4.
Here's the ports list:
Port(s) | Protocol | Used for
3074 Both (TCP and UDP) Lobby Server and Authentication
3075 - 3174 UDP Host and clients peer connections
19000 - 19002 Both (TCP and UDP) Host ping
6667 Both (TCP and UDP) Lobby and in game chat
80 TCP Service discoveryPort 80 is the standard used for all HTTP traffic and is usually allowed by most routers and firewalls by default. Otherwise, your web browser wouldn't work!
Make sure you have as few internet applications running as possible so you leave plenty of bandwidth for SH4. I've heard of plenty of instances where bittorrent clients and active downloads running in the background were interfering with SH4's server connection, which is already somewhat twitchy and unstable without adding bandwidth hogs like bittorrent.
To the best of my knowledge, the reason there are no multiplayer missions for the U-boat Missions add-on is because you cannot play the u-boats in multiplayer. Before you say it, there are indeed many who still feel burned over not having the option of u-boats in multiplayer, so let's not beat that particular dead horse again.
Check out the SH4 Mission Designers forum section for some multiplayer mission download links and info on how to use the Mission Editor. With the editor and some creative thinking, you can make some very fun and challenging missions for SH4 multiplayer. :know:
You can also check out the websites of SH4 multiplayer groups as another possible source for downloading missions. Take a look at the stickied thread, located here in the SH4 Multiplayer forum:
**List of Active SH4 Multiplayer Groups** (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=150231)
There's still SH3 if you really want multiplayer u-boat action, not to mention literally hundreds of missions from all over, thanks to the various flotillas and SH3 gaming groups.
I hope this helps you get sorted out and having fun quicker than you can say "Bungo Pete"!

The default multiplayer missions that come with SH4 start with the submarines submerged, as best as I can recall. You can open any mission with the mission editor and reset the submarine's starting height to zero, which is surfaced. You can then save this mission with a new name and play your surface ships.
For learning more about creating your own missions and using the mission editor, check out the latest update of the SH3 Mission Editor Manual, kindly provided by those generous gentlemen at Nordfront.org. Most all of the basics in creating missions for SH3 hold true for SH4. The biggest difference is in how you set up the mission parameters and briefing.
Here's the link to Nordfront's post announcing the release of the v1.5 SH3 ME Manual... [REL] SH3 Mission Editor Users Guide v15 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=153407)
As for those features unique to the SH4 Mission Editor and SH4 missions, you'll just have to dig through the SH4 Mission Designer's forum for information. I do plan on consolidating everything I've read into a single document but it's still an unfinished work and not ready for release at this time.
Best of luck to you and your friends!
