I started playing this game a week ago and I'm already addicted.I'm not very good but I'm working on it.I only play on manual targeting.I refuse to play on auto aim.The tutorial vids are a life saver for me.When I say I use manual targeting I mean TDC.I'm not good enough to plot 100% realistic in the U-boats. I'd like to see a manual aiming video down under combat conditions. You know, escorts all over you when you pop the periscope up.I have big problems with dealing with the escorts.I could use some suggestions.Thank you all for your help.

Welcome to Subsim. May all your torpedoes run true. :salute: (as historically unrealistic as that may be).

Welcome to the forums, sir... remember prudence is the better part of valor when it comes to tangling with escorts! Happy hunting!

Welcome to Subsim! In the stock game you can mostly ignore the escorts, so long as you limit periscope exposure to 30 seconds, track where they are and evade if they go into fast pinging.

My tutorials are done in controlled conditions, off the friendly coast of California near Catalina Island. That is because it's necessary to learn to shoot without complications before you toss in the nasty escorts.

There are two strategies to follow. The first would be to learn escort silliness while still using auto targeting. I'd tend toward this course, although it isn't realistic in reflecting how real captains learned.

The second would be to learn manual targeting against single or lightly escorted targets first, avoiding convoys. Then when the steps become more automatic, you can mix in the bad guys later.

My only advise is to assume you're about to die at all times. That's what usually happens to me anyway.:dead:

Remeber Sailors flys spread disease so keep yours c-l-o-s-e-d.It is typical military tradtion at least in the US military that the new guy/gal buys the old salts a round of booze that is.Also if you slap down your unit coin last you are buying that round even if you got beat by 50 people.Happened to me once after that I was as fast as Wild Bill on the six gun.And if you are buying a "friend" for the evening you dont pay for anyone else.

For here or to go?

Welcome aboard, Mario!

Manual targeting rocks, specially when you get the hang of it.

PS. I recommend RR's tutorials! They helped me to manual targeting and hitting almost anything!

I have always assumed it is the weight of the mug by the size of these? [mugs]

You do see three beer mugs, right?

Mariog, all I play is MANUAL targeting.
