Massive Multiplayer LAN-Test

Massive battle-test.

I previously announced a alternative to hamachi, and we're in for some serious testing.
We try to achieve a battle with more than 7 people, so anyone who wants to help out is welcome.
Please read the installation instructions carefully, they are quite simple but are essential for flawless operation.




Installation instructions :

Did you previously installed a Virtual Ethernet adapter?

if not :

1 :: Download hthttp://www.openvpn.net/release/openvpn-2.1_rc15-install.exe (http://www.openvpn.net/release/openvpn-2.1_rc15-install.exe)

Start openvpn-2.1_rc15-install.exe as administrator.

When asked what components to install, choose ONLY the 'TAP Virtual Ethernet Adapter'

So, untick all options and select only the 'TAP Virtual Ethernet Adapter' and click next.
The installer will add new hardware, which you should allow to install.
You are now ready to continue to the next step.




2 :: Download http://www.xs4all.nl/~igrabo/hell/VLAN_STATIC_TEST.exe and unpack to the directory of your choice.

Navigate to that directory, and click on n2ngui.exe
In your system-tray, rightclick the vpn icon and select 'show settings'

In the Assigned IP field, you need to type in a IPadress. below you will find the information what ip-adress to fill in.
Once you have entered the IP, click on OK, completely close the application and restart it.
You are now connected to the SubSim LAN.Fire up your game, and goto the LAN lobby.
Create a session, or join any available session.


:: Howto obtain a static ip-adress

Everyone who replies, and wants to participate in this test please reply with the IP adress you chosen.
The choice of an ipadress is simple. Your IP is the last taken IP +1

So, we start the ip adresses at 192.168.200.10

The first guy who want to participate replies with :
192.168.200.11 -> taken by <yourname>

the next participant will take 192.168.200.12 (11+1)
And so on...

!!! In case of problems with your network or internet connectivity !!!
-- Disable the WIN32-TAP adapter in case of network connectivity loss.

From now on, when you start N2NGUI you will be connected to the subsim lan.
You can start the n2ngui, invite other pals to join the VPN and start Langaming .

Once we have more than 10 people, we should set a date and schedule a massive online lan test.
This thread will be closed after a certain amount of 'static-ip' test rounds.

Can you imagine a wolfpack with 16 u-boats or a multiplayer campaign with 32 u-boats spread across the North Sea? :D
