DD-1 MataHari 205 /Surv/1/NoSafeConvoy
. in A Class Destroyer
. sank U-3
DD-2 Ninja_Ka 2274 /Surv/1/NoSafeConvoy
. in BlackSwan Class Destroyer
. sank U-2
Axis Players:
U-1 Capt_Haddock 208 /KIA/2/12102 Tons
. in U-boot Type IX
. sank 32 Oil Tanker 8901 tons
. sank 51 Slow Cargo 2 3201 tons
U-3 GreyLynx 2291 /KIA/2/10002 Tons
. in U-boot Type VII
. sank 41 Slow Cargo 6801 tons
. sank 52 Slow Cargo 2 3201 tons
We agreed to play a quick game (1 hour). The Sub players tried the Silent Watchdog Tactic: U-2 goes in the convoy and simultaneously sinks as many ships he can, goes deep and silent while reloading; while U-3 remains in front of the convoy, at PD, waiting for the DD to show up and then fire a torp at it.
They attacked the STBD side of the convoy. U-2 sank the Tanker and the small Cargo, missed the next cargo (dud torp I think) and went deep and silent as planned. DD-2 managed to ping U-2 at about 500 feet when he got hit by U-3's torpedo.
At first we couldn't figure out how a sub could have fired a torp at that depth. Then U-3 sank a Cargo. This is when I realized that the 2 subs were together. I rushed in and started sweeping. I detected U-3 as he was getting in position to fire at an other Cargo. He then Crash Dived and I DC'ed him with a full rack. That was the end of U-3.
I started looking for U-2. When I found it, I guided DD-2 to drop a full rack on it and sent it to Neptune's graveyard.
Thanks guys. This was a quick and dirty game.
