To all Silent Hunter fans:

Subsim and ComSubsPac proudly presents the newest part of the Silent Hunter community, our monthly Silent Hunter Community Meet!

What makes this different from many other meets in the past is you have no need to travel any further than your computer to participate. The entire meeting is done using TeamSpeak.

You will need to get TeamSpeak 2 (www.teamspeak.com) and a microphone because this is a LIVE event with voice chat. Yep! You'll actually get to TALK with your favorite sub simulation community personalities. :yeah:

What is TeamSpeak, you ask? TeamSpeak is a voice-chat client for gamers that allows you to talk to all your friends online as you play your favorite games. It uses very little resources and bandwidth so your games run smoothly even while you're talking.

Many long time and well-known members of the community are typically guests of honor. Such "sub celebs" as Neal Stevens and members of the Grey Wolves mod team are frequent guests. The meet provides everyone the opportunity to ask questions and discuss many topics about Silent Hunter and the SH community with those who have helped to shape the face of our favorite submarine sims. :DL

Meet old friends and make new ones as we all help bring the community closer together and have a fun time! :woot:

The meet is hosted by Subsim.com and ComSubsPac every third Sunday of the month at 9:00 PM UK Time Zone. Officially, the duration of the meet is two hours but everyone is welcome to hang out and chat longer if they wish.

For those of you living in the USA, that means the times would be as follows:

* 4:00 PM Eastern
* 3:00 PM Central
* 2:00 PM Mountain
* 1:00 PM Pacific

If you live in an area that does not observe Daylight Savings Time it would be one hour earlier than those listed.

The Game Clock on the ComSubsPac home page is set to U.K. time. You also can refer to this clock if you want to know what the U.K. time is relative to where you live.

To participate in the meet all you need is a microphone, the TeamSpeak 2 client, and registration at ComSubsPac.com to access the TeamSpeak server. Registration is done for security reasons, to prevent uninvited people from crashing the party, both literally and figuratively.

If you need help or have any further questions about participating in the meet, just ask one of the administrators at ComSubsPac or the moderators here in the Multiplayer section of the Subsim forums.

Looking forward to seeing you all there! :salute:

Say what?!? :o

I stay gone for a week to take care of some things and use my spare time to finally tear down and rebuild my computer, then you monkeys draft me while my back is turned? :hmph:

Ah, well. You knew what my answer would be anyways, I suppose. :roll:

Just don't anyone expect me to host some games. I'm up to my eyeballs in software installs and configs so I may not get around to installing my various SH games and mods until later.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you there, this time!

You're a devil, owner! I bet you put Paul and the others up to this! :O:

I've already got more of this..:damn:...than I care to think about, Tac!

Starting over from scratch with a new hard drive can be daunting when you don't have a backup drive to restore everything.

Looks like I'll have a few more dents in my forehead before this is through.

Just remember this little rhyme and you'll always have the right time!

"If it's Sunday number three, it's time for the meet."

You got it, true believers! The day draws near, once again. This Sunday, June 22nd, at 9:00 PM U.K. time, is once again the appointed date for our Silent Hunter Community Monthly Meet.

I'd love to see everyone here at Subsim show up and all of us chat, have fun, make new friends, and talk to old acquaintances while we share gossip, news, tips, and war stories about our favorite u-boat sim!

Note: Since this Sunday is also Father's Day in many places, ugly or cheesy neckties and cheap cologne is permitted. :O:

Nope. Not gonna be there.

Yep, I've met Rebel, his wife, and their cool dog at the Houston Subsim meet. Believe it or not, I enjoyed their company. I even remember a lively conversation with Rebel as he tried to squeeze a little secret info about the yet to be released GWX 3.0.:D Rebel is a cool cat.

Well I turned up (the only ever present since its start :smug:) and other than two others, that was it I'm afraid. :hmmm:

I'm still getting my sea legs, Neal, but I'll keep the lighthouse shining. :03:

I suppose we'll need to either chalk the low attendance up to people out for summer fun or Father's Day, jimbuna. If it turns out to be consistent, then I'd say some thought needs to be put into "Why?" and "How do we stir up more interest?".

It does seem the first two meetings were a huge hit but attendance has tapered off steadily. Might it be a case of not not enough to chat about every single month? Or, do you think we need to beat the bushes for a more varied panel of honored guests each month? Some of the fellows from Ubi are among the notably absent that I would consider essential. Perhaps rotate among the mod groups to discuss and promote their work as well.

I wouldn't mind having at least one of the SH5 devs show up for a Q&A session but how do you even get ahold of those guys? :06:

Regardless, glad you showed up, jimbuna! Thanks for keeping the spirit alive and helping out. You're a good egg. :up:
