Made three attempts today to play a random mission on the Ubi server. All three were successful. For the first two, default settings (type of sub and crew experience) were not changed. For the third, crew experience was upped to the max.
:hmm: Maybe we were just lucky. Or maybe the Ubi server was at fault and has now been fixed. Either way, it might be worth giving random missions another try.
