Having hit a Kongo battleship with several torpedoes it lists badly, but has not yet been identified as target sunk. At what point are you generally confident that the target has been damaged enough that it will eventually sink and move onto other targets?

In a word .... fire...

Typically if a target is listing hard, slowed severely (like 2 or 3 knots) AND on fire there time will come.

But hey if you want to make sure put one more fish into them and leave no doubt.

Yeah, if you've immobilized an enemy ship you've given yourself a real advantage. Even if you have to bug out and escape some enemy destroyers, a stopped ship presents an incredibly easy target even from many kilometers away.

I actually had that exact situation a couple days ago. I hit a Small Modern twice, once in the bow and once in her screws, leaving her dead and listing in the water. After I got away from the escorts I came back and she was in the same place. Easiest 2000 tons or so I've ever sank.

Heh, first post.

Welcome to the fourms The noob. Yep, thats a good tactic for those ships you stop dead in the water (expecialy if distoryers are around).:yep:

I have watched many times from long distance ,on radar...they can linger for days...and beware.... the sim loves to leave behind a destroyer guarding in ambush.

Best best is to drop below a thermal and slowly cruise until you are on the other side of the "floater" from the guard. Prepare your solution on the stern tubes. Then pop up ...take him out...and get back below the thermal layer PDQ.

Usually works like a charm.....usually...:shifty:
