I am about ready to try manual targeting. First question: The PK has two ships, one on top and the other on the bottom. Each ship is surrounded by numbers -- I think there are two rows of numbers or maybe three rows. What do they mean. What is the significane of the arrows on the PK.

On the torpedo PK, is the torpedo spread in meters or feet. Is the torpedo depth in meters or feet? My guess is the spread is in feet, but the manual on Japanese ships has ship depth listed in meters.

Spread is always in degrees, and depth depends on which units you have chosen from the game settings menu, imperial or metric. Using metric it's naturally meters, and with imperial I thinkg it's in feet. As for the PK, the upper ship is your target, while the lower one is you. I'd need a few pics to explain the rest so I'm not gonna do it now, but I can tell you that we've been through it before and the forum has loads of threads on the subject, pics included.

The top dial shows the ships course and its Angle on bow. The bottom shows your ship and the gyroangle to target. The arrows indicates the torpedos path to target.

.....I've assumed all this time to be in degrees and have never gone beyond 1.5 either side as I've never been so close to need anything more.

Depth of torpedoes should be in feet if your working in imperial but I'm not sure how accurate it is as I've adjusted my depth to a couple or more of what the ID Book shows as depth of keel and the bastards went under with no effect!!!

The top ship icon on the PK is your target and the numbers are it's course. You can get a better idea during targetting when you adjust the AOB on the TDC and toggle PK and you'll see the top icon adjust it's course direction in reaction to your AOB adjustment. In other words; calculate the target's speed using the TDC and you'll get a response say "target speed is X, course YYY" or words to that effect.
If you look on the PK top icon the '0' point may not be pointed at course YYY therefore you go back to your TDC and adjust the AOB then click on the PK button and you'll see it correct itself. You may have to tweak the AOB to get the PK to reflect the stated course.
Clear as mud??
