Japan loses 1 brp due to transport shortage. Japan only able to carry 5 oil home this turn
Neither Germany nor Japan announce any offensive operations, except for Italian raiders in the Indian. Japanese forces pull out of the Indian Ocean
Yet another even more advanced torpedo design put into action by Germany. Torpedoes are now homing in on engine noises!
Battle of the Indian Ocean
1 U-boat faces the transports with mod+1 and rolls 6 mod 7. no direct losses, but gets through and sinks 2 transports
Italian raiders are spotted by 3 groups, an American CA2, a PB2 and a BB4 all meet

The italians fire on the BB4 Massachusettes, the Americans all fire on the BB4 Veneto. Mod is +1 for the Americans
8 US factors fire rolling a 5 mod 6, 1 hit, no damage
11 italian factors fire rolling a 4 mod 5, 2 hits, no damage
The Italians run for it, but are engaged a second time (rolling a 6), this time a CA4 and a BB3 join in
The Americans have 15 factors at +1 and roll a 11=12 5 hits! The Mighty BB4 Veneto was caught badly out of position and subjected to a withering crossfire. She soon started sinking and the crew abandoned ship. Some were picked up by her friends in the cruisers, but they were forced to leave before finishing the task. The remaining survivors were picked up by the Americans.

A Japanese Task Force patrolling off the New Hebrides had radio messages intercepted and US TF2 was sent to investigate from Australia. The Submarine USS Flying Fish made contact with the Japanese Task Force and vectored in the US fleet for attack.
US TF2 Magic intercepts Japan's TF1
Search: Japan gets 0 dice (1 CG)

Japan 1 die
US 3 dice
Japan gets 3, US not found
US gets 1,2,5. Japanese CG found
US rolls a 5 for surprise
this is modified to 4 because of Japan's Radar. The following effects apply to Japan:
a) only 2/3 the defending air (round up) are able to defend
b) attacker gets +1 DRM on attack on naval units
c) air defense level 1 less
d) no +1 bonus for CAP
Despite these disadvantages, an impressive 3 eNAS are patrolling the skies around the TF when the 7 US NAS come screaming in.
Furthermore it appears that the zero fighters have been significantly upgraded since 1942 with some armor and heavier cannons (an air nat breakthrough)
Total mod for Japan +2, for US -2

Mod +2
US rolls a 8! mod 10! 2 hits! The CV3 Akagi has been hit and is pouring smoke!
Round 3
US gets 2 search results, Japan 0
With japanese search planes frantically scanning the area for the Americans, the US NAS are rearmed and refuelled and sent out again, this time leaving no Combat Air Patrol
The Japanese are still in dissarray, but not so badly as before, -1 CAP ADRM, -1 air defense

In the middle of this chaos the battleships come within range of each other!
The US
BB4 Indiana, BB4 Washignton, BB2 Guam, CA4 (CVB4 Constellation screened)
Japan
BB5 yamato, BB4 Nagato, CA4, (CV3 Zuikaku, Soryu, Kaga screened)

All Japanese heavies target the Indiana
At this stage there are no modifiers in this even battle
US 10 factors roll a 6! 2 hits! no damage
