I'm slowly but surely modeling a type XXI boat but lack fine details. If anyone is willing to assist in providing pictures of details on the hull and conning tower I would appreciate it. I would have done it myself but time is limited as I am studying UK law so you may have to guess what the inside of my brain looks like.:know:

Hmm I thought the Type XVIII is exactly the same thing as the Type XXI, minus the Walther...Just remove all the files with the Walther, put some massive underwater speed and big batteries, and release it. I'd play it :up:

EDIT: you probably don't have 1.5 if you're asking it in here right? sorry...I guess I can give you some pics:

Shiver me timbers! It's an actual restored Type XXI boat! Where are these pics taken from?

In Schroeder post second pic that tower in the background ( maybe a restaurant ? ) looks like a crows nest on the U-Boat. :rotfl:

@Steve
Yep, that's the Wilhelm Bauer at Bremerhaven.:know:

@DavyJones

I've found the booklet I got when I visited it about 6-7 years ago. Here is a picture of it.

Man, that's cool! I just wish someone will go search off our Gulf of Paria. I bet there's a u-boat or two down there.

Did the Type XXI really ride that high in the water? Or is the museum just in "dry dock" with the water still there?

It's the museum boat. Here is a line drawing and a photograph of one at sea. Both pictures show the real waterline.

IIRC the boat is not really floating. It's some sort of an underwater "dry dock" if it can still be called so.
I think the sub is that high in the water to show the upper pair of opened torpedo tubes so that one can have a look through them from inside.

Want some more pictures?
I have to say that I didn't take those myself back when I was there. I've got them from a friend of mine who found them on his company's LAN, so I actually don't know who took them originally.
Some of them are not exactly of high quality but that's the best I can offer.;)

Man, I'm glad I'm not modeling the interior of the XXI. Look at the amount of details! I'd go nuts in seconds. I appreciate the effort of posting the pics m8!:up:
