Two quick questions ......

Can anybody give me some info on the following points.......

Renown:
Does anybody know if you get renown for reporting in a convoy or task group ?
I've had at least one occasion where I'm returning to base with only 1 torp left (or none) and I've found a convoy and reported it in.
I get a 'Good work' radio message back and told to break contact .............. but is it actually worth risking detection to call this in.
When I've got enough torpedoes I usually get an additional objective, so I assume there is some renown if that is completed, but not sure what happens if I'm told to break contact and RTB ?

Navigation Map:
1. In the manual (page 28) it says you can change the name of a mark. To something other than 'Mark1' etc.
2. It also says (page 28) that compass circles can be 'linked' to a specific unit and these will track the unit they are linked to.

I dont seem to be able to do either of these ..... are they in the game ?

As far as I know you don't get any renown for contact reports, but you assumed correctly that completing the objective you sometimes get following the contact report will be rewarded with renown.

Navigation map:
Neither of these two functions are currently implemented, they are just a few of the several errors in the manual.

Renown: I'll probably not bother calling in any other jap groups unless I have the weapons to take them on.
You'd have thought HQ would have been happy to know what's going on out there !:p

Nav Map: OK. Pity, I could have used both of those functions.

There was one other question that I meant to ask, but couldn't remember what it was at the time of posting .... (Should really have titled the thread 3 quick questions !)

On the Nav Map. There is a tool (small red pencil) that is has the label "Select Combat Support Units" I've never managed to get this to do anything :doh:.
Is it part of the multiplayer game options ?

That's part of the commander's abilities for the u-boat campaign. A commander of a certain rank gets to make use of support units like aircraft and auxiliary cruisers, and the red pencil is how you select and direct such units. It does nothing in the US campaign.

Yes, you get renown for reporting a convoy if you are within sight of the convoy when you make your report. Whether it's worth it or not is an open question.

I've not started a German campaign yet, so not seen that option working - Thanks.

As for the convoy reports ..... if you get renown then thats good. I suppose the decision to call it in or not depends on the situation at the time. The last one I called in cost me some damage and an injured crewman whilst trying to escape a swarm of escorts.
