So I started a patrol mission last night and normally when I reach the star-marker for the patrol point the mission log cycles to 'complete' for the patrol and then the mission is advanced to include sinking x-tonnage or something similar.

However, very first mission out of Pearl Harbor, instructions to patrol Honshu, and any way I approach, move over, or otherwise 'interact' with the marked point on the map, the mission 'patrol' is showing as incomplete and isn't advancing at all.

What constitutes a 'patrol' mission and when do I know it's over?

I believe patrol involves staying very close to the patrol point for 72h (Mesa thinks), boooring

Thanks for the prompt response guys - totally appreciate it.

This mission requires only that you stay within 100 nautical miles of the objective for 48 hours. You usually get 200 renown points for completing this mission.

du-duh! Okay, I must have inadvertently done that first time out oft he gate by accident while learning the controls and such, and then - now I'm faster - zoomed through too quickly!
