optimal game play setings
For better game play immersion and ambience you should set your
game play speach in German with texts in English to really enjoy the
U-boat german speash sounds and other sounds like repeated orders
Morse radio message etc...
Atention
To avoid any problems Install the Mod when in port
and not in Mid patrol!
H-Resolution FIX
For those who have that Problem with the Old visible
console with high Res Mod.
I have made this mod with my normal Plus the GW Mod
installed 1024x768 resolution, so i cannot tell you how
it works on high Res Mod.
Maybe it is not compatible with the HighRes Mod.....
Try this:

Un-zip the folder somwehere, because the first folder is the just the first one.
Inside it you'll find one labeled "U-Boat 1.2 For GWX2.0 (IO)"
Thats the real deal! Put this one in the Mod-enabler and there you go!:know:

Brother, I do not even know what is that error message,
But you have to read install instructions carefully,
This Mod version haves to be installed over GWX 2.0 to work properly,
If you have installed any other Mod over GWX 2 You'll have problems...
The only optional Mods as the Pdf U-Boat 1.2 explains, that work with
this mod are in the Mods optional Folder, I selected carefully the optional
install Mods as in order to enjoy the Mod you can not use any mods that
change the U-boat 1.2 Menu-ini, and GWX 2.0 Files , if you do that do it at your
own risk....This mod I say again was tested over 2 weaks on GWX 2.0
and haves no mistakes at all if you unstall it over the Original GWX 2.0...
Read the install instructions guys, do not rush into go and install
speeds without allways reading the Readme files of any mod from now on
specialy if its for GWX 2.0, cause if it changes the GWX 2 based files or original
work you'll have problems and so you'll have Problems with mi Mod as well...
OLC work is not GWX compatible so its not U-boat 1.2 Compatible...:up:
Also remember that the Main mod folder comes inside the downloaded folder,
toghether with the Documentation folder and a Optional Mods folder!
To avoid any mor errors like this please make sure to install it also when you're in Port!
Megaupload.com has irritating download limit for me. Is it possible to use other place for U-Boat 1.2 file?

Now I have some of my explosion soundfiles back (lost them due to a HD failure) and they are even tuned up and made better :up: thx, great mod!
I have crashes when the game load the tga files from the mod uboat 1.2 contained in the folder "submarine".

the U-boat 1.2 for GWX 2.0 doesn't have Tga files in the Submarine folders!
But the bearing overlay from Pato!
So that is not the isue...:hmm:
If you are having problems with that bearing overlay,
on the U-boat 1.2 optional Mods you have the 1500 mts. bearing overlay !
Just install it !
Also if you are instaling the Mod on mid patrol you might have that CTD problem 2!
So install it at port!
I refer to the files in the folder submarine/NSS_Uboatxx_shp file tga.If I delete all the game not crash. Pardon my english ciao grazie!

Ok no problem with the spelling mate, I am not that good also anyway!
Those files are the Bearing tool Tga files ,
if you delet them you'll not have the bearing overlay on the game,
on the U-Boat 1.2 Optional Mods folder
you have another smaller sized bearing overlay,
just drag the Bearing 1500 mts folder to the JSGME
and enable it over the U-boat 1.2...:hmm:

I have some remark:
1. crew management screen of uboot has too many details of background in my opinion and is illegible;
2. type VII skin doesn't look good, I like stock GWX 2.0;
3. integrated orders icons looks better in white colour

Iorders add to be in blue or you won't be able to see them well on some screens!:yep:
On the optional folder you have some Fubar VII Skins , on the Fubars skins pack!
Crew management maybe you're right mate, but still there is not to much to read there!:lol: But change man from one compartemente to another!:up:

From the letters of praise perhaps others are not encountering the difficulties that I am having.
Have downloaded the mod a number of times, but it seems a number of files for the GWX version are always corrupt. I have loaded the mod via JSME and when I enter the game I see no changes at all.
Am I doing something wrong

When should I use it? I play at 1280x1024 hires and don't see any graphical glitches.

Maybe another thing ... have you got the right version installed ... meanin' do you have the 1.4B stock version OR the GWX 2.0 version ... that might make a difference

I really don't understand fully whats is the problem,
I guess you are trying to download the U-Boat 1.2 for GWX 2.0 and somehow you
don't get the files , or you don't have an idea on how to install it...
First let me ask you this:
After you downloaded the Compacted file from the Mod when
you0re uncompressing it does it gives you file corrupted errors?:hmm:

Mate the High resolution fix is just for the people that
with the tools&Dials Mod still see the old dials in transparent
watermark over the Officer Icons, That happends with people that
is playing the game with a resolution higher then mine, I play 1024x768 resolution
and sometimes the guys that play with a higher resolution then mine have ot might
have that problem, this fix is just for the ones who have it !:up:

thank you for this wonderful mod. I do have one question though. Your manual refers to Racerboys SH4 effects for SH3 but only for the stock 1.4b version. I thought that currently Racerboy tries to make a new version that will be fully compatible with GWX 2.0, so such effects seem not to be contained in your mod, right? :hmm:

OK lets just make a step by step procedure here :
Step 1
- Download on my forum the version you want
- in order for this mod to work and depending on the version
you choose, you must have, or GWX 2.0 installed or SH III
Patched with the patch 1.4b installed...
- For each of this game play styles, GWX 2.0 or Stck 1.4b,
you have a diferent U-Boat 1.2 Mod !
- If you don't have a decompressing tool download the 7z file
compression tool here:
7z (http://www.7-zip.org/)
its a free tool and a very good one also its the same tool I used
to compress the U-Boat 1.2 files !
- Assuming that you know and have instaled on SHIII directory
the JSCones Generic Mod Enabler ( JSGME) now we have all we
need !
- Using 7z or winrar or winzip, uncompress the downloaded U-Boat 1.2
File to your desktop.
- Right cilck on it and explore the unziped folder.
- Inside the folder you will see 3 subfolders and a Pdf u-boat 1.2
readme file.
- The folders are :
- Documentation - This is were are all the Included Mods original reademe
files and documentations.
- Optinal Mods - This is were it goes the U-Boat 1.2 optional Mods.
- U-Boat 1.2 for... ( GWX (IO) or SHIII patched 1.4b ) This are the
Mod folder itself...
You just have to drag the Mod folder to the (JSGME) Mods Folder inside
SHIII Directory on your C: Program files / Ubisoft directory...
And activating it using the JSGME install botton...:up:

Ths is weird, I've disconnected my anti-virus as I thought this might have something to do with it, and downloaded the GWX version of your mod for may be the 10th time, still no go, when I try to unload it into the mods folder of my SH3 game I get a message with details of over 1155 corrupt files.
For wahtever reason I cant download this mod

Sometime 7z seems to not extract all the files when dragging multiple folders. Have you tried dragging the UBoat 1.2 folder only from inside the Uboat.7z file?
It seems like this problem sometimes occurs when shift+clicking or cntrl+clicking several folders together and then trying to drag them into the Windows Explorer.
Also the completed 7z for GWX 2.0 weighs in at about 324,327 kb zipped and the unzipped folder (right click for properties) is about .98 gig
Also try to copy the contents instead of moving them to the mods folder. Ie: the copy and extract buttons on 7z.
If you are still having trouble let me know. This is really a nice mod too miss out on!:cry:

the GWX 2 version its basicly a Graphic mod, it changes
almost every menu screen in the game---

So far I really like what I've seen running this. Great job!!
Just three observations, though:
1) Whenever an enemy surface ship fires its guns, or drops depth charges, they call out in German just like my deck gun crew does. ::grins:: (by the way, I love the deck gun sound!)
2) When I'm at the nav station, the brown of the table/ruler at the bottom makes it difficult to read messages when they first appear, as the lettering is almost the same color.
3) At night it's doggone hard to see the compass numerals when plotting your course; the outer rings blend into the map top.

Didn't tested yet without the Alpha Channel mate, but
The original Icons come with the same Alpha Channel
so I have made it just the same Graphic type!
I gess if you take the AC of nothing will happend bad,

I haven't run into this yet, since I haven't tried to manage my crew using Sh3Commander yet. If I do run into the problem, my next question is: How do I remove an alpha channel, what program can I use? (preferably freeware;) )

this Mod, I will be releasing an update Patch Fix
on the end of Jan.

I don't use anything else with GWX 2.0 and UBoat1.2
It doesn't need anything else, Sure the Whiz Wheel from OLC is nice, But the OLC GUI just isn't as self concealing as yours'.
UBoat adds to the immersion, where-as OLCs' GUI adds to the functionality on screen all the time, Therefore you know you're playing a game with it, Which 'just in my opinion' Immersion is the whole point of 'any' simulation.
Lookin forward to the patch, Don't know what else you could fix or add, but....:o

Hi. I just posted to the OLC 1.1 thread about this. OLC changes font sizes to bigger ones. so the game menus do not show nicely anymore. Let's wait for OneLifeCrises's reply also first.
Another small issue in Uboat 1.2:
With GWX2 and Uboat alone (without OLC mod) there is only the problem of reading the selected alternatives for example át the navigation training screen but others as well. Because the selected text is light grey and the backgruond quite light also.
Could there be a version with the selected text in menus appearing for example in green color?
Anyway, Uboat 1.2 is really outstanding work! :up:

I talled you guys the OLC Is not compatible yet,
Fisrt it doesn't work with GWX 2.0, Brakes stuff on the
original Mod, secound it doesn't work with Mi Mod cause
I use the same unmodifyed Files from GWX 2.....
Now, Any changes OLC might do to get is Mod compatible with
mine He must first get in PM box with me and so far he didn't...
As for the stock version of Mi Mod, the same goes to the file
changes over the menu-ini that i have made in order to fit
the Fonts and positioning for Mi new Graphics !
the same here, OLC haves to make it compatible with
Mi mod in order to be able to fit the Graphic changes i have made...
OLC will decide if he whants to make it compatible or not with
mi Mod ...So I will have to wayte on his call!:up:

I am using GW2.0 and uboat 1.2 WHen I choose my player name and accept i see the screen with my last patrols and saved games for a campaign. At the bottom of the screen there is "Captains Log" and "view awards" but it wont highlight or let me choose it. is this an error? or am I missing a part or something. Nevermind I figured it out. It works great!

Sorry but I played around a bit, it was the elite crew uniforms causing the CTD, I did a bunch of changes and presto I've been enjoying your vunderful mod. I did seem to notice that the 3000 m overlay has some issues though. I played assisted and the lock range is not anywhere near the represented range on tdc or nav map. I'm feeling that somewhere along the line there were a missunderstanding between OLC and JCWOLF, coz JCWOLF said that OLC's mod is not compatible with GWX 2.0, and I think that he meant to say that its not compatible with U-Boat 1.2.
Am I wrong?
I mean, how can OLC's mod not be compatible with with gwx 2.0 if its made on it for it? I've installed and there's not a single file that is overwritten!
By the way, its not hard at all to make OLC's mod and Uboat 1.2 compatible, I've just done it for myself...
You guys should get along so everyone else can enjoy both of your works, after all what is the point of working on a mod for months and then nobody else can enjoy it too coz some childish... :nope:

Me and OLC have fixed what apparently was without no doubt a lack
of communication between us...

from the Navigation Map, like distance and speed charts
and counvoy map mine location chart...
So you can try it and if don't like it uninstall it again!:yep: :up:

yep i have been 200 Bellow,
For the last days i have been negotiating a Forum
That will finally allow me some Liberty and prespective...

Well its a payed forum but damn cool i think, also in order to

Thanks for a superb mod- I am really impressed and running it well with GWX 2.1, olc special, lifeboat mods and some various skins, as well as sound pack from WAC to get the das boot voices etc- superb and many thanks.
