I would like to be a part of the online gaming thing but so far I've failed to be in a multiplayer game. When I'm hosting a game and the load finishes, I'm greeted by the message "Player2/3 have left the game". When I join a game I get CTD. I'm using GWX and I have disabled all mods from JSGME right now just for multiplay.

Before I make seperate installs I need to know if it should be GWX or vanilla 1.4. I keep checking the GWX TS server for any MP games but it's usually empty (with Jim snoring in his bunk).

So I guess whatever the majority uses, I'll make a seperate install for that.

Any extra tips will be appreciated.

The single most important thing with MP is that YOU & OTHERS have exactly the same files.

Using the Ubi Lobby, this is not the easiest thing to ensure. Most of the MP games are arranged before hand with people wanting to play. For example, we play GWX 1.04 on a Saturday PM (GMT) but that is pre-arranged for testing purposes.

If you host a game and others get kicked at the start of the game, it means they have a different install/mods then you.
If you CTD when trying to join someones game, it means your install is different to the hosts.

The simplest thing to do is to pre-arrange a MP game with people close to your timezone and makes sure that everyone is using GWX 1.03 with absolutely no mods or file changes.

For our part, I expect MP to pick up as soon as testing is over and the latest release of GWX is public. We will then, make an announcement, containing start times and server details for any MP games.
