View Full Version : Patch 1.3 possibly breaks LAN over Hamachi in SH4

Before 1.3 me and my friend could play SH4 using lan without any problems, we had some issues with using UBI lobby as it would drop us often and other times it was down. Now after patching to 1.3 we cannot play SH4 over lan using Hamachi at all, noone can see each other host. Further, I just tried hamachi and sh4 over lan with another player who contacted me, denis. He played games over lan using hamachi before this but we had no luck getting SH4 1.3 to work over hamachi using lan at all.

Since I havent seen anyone on this forum post they played SH4 1.3 over hamachi yet, I am starting to worry that they broke hamachi and lan in SH4 with patch 1.3. That's a shame especially when UBI lobby is flactuating or down....

Me and my friend are in process of reinstalling and patching the game to 1.2 to test whether we can still play lan over hamachi with 1.2, if it works then it would clearly indicate 1.3 breaks this ability. I will post with results once done.

We came to conclusion it has to be something on one of our sides, since 1.2 didnt work either. So if I can ask someone who played SH4 on hamachi before to please reply here when they can give me 10 minutes of their time so I can test whether I can play with them that would eliminate me as being the problem and help me and my friend narrow this, thanks!

Thanks for reply, do you intend to patch your game to 1.3? If not let me know and I will reinstall game and patch it to 1.2 to see if I can play it with you over hamachi. Thanks, let me know what times work for you and where you live.

me and a buddy of mine are having a similiar problem, but i think ours is bit more complicated. you need to check if you or your buddy has a firewall installed and if so if it is letting exceptions through, if this is not the case (windows firewall might be on, just check anyways) check for any programs that could be restricting accesses to the internet such as adaware programs, etc. you also need to check if you have the ports open for hamachi open or simply open your DMZ on your router settings. finally if none of this works this is something me and my friend tried, unfortunately to no avail but it might work for you. go to control panel/network connections, hit the advanced button at the top and press advanced settings, then make sure you Hamachi adapter is above whatever your primary internet adapter is by pressing the arrow keys. then restart your computer and try again. if this dosent work i cant help any further. However i will be looking into the issue my friend and i are still having and i will keep you up to date on our progress:sunny:

Your tip about advanced settings, and order of access by network for the devices was the key in making Hamachi work. Moving Hamachi as top of access was the key. Now Hamachi works over LAN in SH4.

My brother & I are having problems with hamachi, when either of us create a game the browser window doesn't show it listed. Never had a problem with patch 1.2 but then we were both using xp, now I'm on vista but my brother is still using xp so maybe that's also causing problems with hamachi (xp<>vista)

Luckily ubi.com was up n running so we had a multiplayer game over that instead.

Did you follow directions to make sure Hamachi connection is first in list of networks windows is looking at?

Yeah I did that as soon as I saw the original post about it, finally got it working by forwarding some ports on my brothers router, he hadn't set them up correctly ;)

Honestly I don't know how to thank you!!! the trick with the adapter priority did the trick !!!! Btw for anybody who didn't manage to make it work a fast tip is to disable proxy hamachi setup and forward udp and tcp ports instead. if you don't know how to do this I can make a step by step guide. I LOVE SH4 CO-OP !!!! Thanks again widowmaker!

I've had similar problems with Hamachi....solved it by using earlier version of Hamachi (ver 1.0.1.5) if I or me mateys update hamachi we get problems.
