What combinations do I want in each compartment? Some are intuitive, but some (like damage control) are not.

Also, what do medals do? Do they grant any bonuses to the crewman like in SH3?

Yes, I did a search, but to be honest the threads I found were mostly others asking the same questions and not many answers.

One of the developers has said that crewmen with the mechanical or electrical skill are the ones you want in your damage control party.

medals will grant bonuses along the lines of faster top speed for your boat, or faster torpedoes. I think. maybe that happens as crewmen gain ranks. it's all about as clear as mud.

Same here. Seems like the devs left us high & dry on this one, or at least Ubi's manual writers did. It could be there's a very elaborate and well thought-out crew management system hidden in there someplace, but without any documentation is sure is hard to tell.

Good to hear I'm not the only one having issues with this then.

The SH3 system made sense after a while, this one I'm still having issues with. I feel like I'm fumbling around in the dark without a clue.

Oh well. I'll keep trying. If I can actually survive more than three patrols in a campaign, I might actually start to see an effect.

Curious, though, why don't you have Sensors specialists in your conning tower? Looks like you filled it up with Command and Engines guys?

(not that I guess it matters much when they're all uber-skilled at everything :D )

Because there are no skippers that have that icon, BUT the guys in my conning tower got the best Electrical skills and it's their 1st and most important skill :) Here's a screenshot so you understand better what I mean:

Well, as soon as there were any lvl 12 Lieutentants available, I got my hands on them :) And I'm on my 19th patrol right now, so they had plenty of time to be skilled I guess :hmm:
