According to the ingame pop up help text, when you click the 'follow nearest contact' button, you should also be able to click it a second time to stop the action.

But it doesn't apear to work. Once I get the sonar man calling out the contact reports, he just never stops, no matter what I do.

Anyone know how to silence the sonar man?

All you have to do to get him to be quiet is to press the "Normal Sweep" button.

Think of it as giving another order to him.

(BTW...the help text is wrong, concerning the "follow nearest contact" button.)

I may be wrong but I've done that before and I don't recall it shuttin' the guy up either. :hmm:

when you press h, he will stop reporting contacts.

Awesome, a fix! :up: I'll have to give that a whirl. I quit using that feature because of the non-stop reporting.
Game gets better little by little.

Next is to get rid of the excitable sailors that insist on shouting, as mentioned in another thread. :88)

I confirm that when i hit the "Normal sweep", the guy stop to reporting.

Yeah, I resorted to turning the in-game volume for everything but the crew voices down a bit and turn my speaker volume up to balance them out.
