Broaching torpedoes were a real hazard in real life and the perfect recipe for a circular runner or a premature detonation. This is part of the reason why poor weather curtailed attacks.

The first picture...I've had that happen and the worst part is that they keep trucking along.

I believe thats what will happen when you eat over two dozen hot chicken wings, with a good dose of Tequila to wash 'em down with.

Torpedo in the air sir !

Well it is a "simulation" and some things just cant be accounted for. The gravity defying aircraft and torpedoes for instance.

But yes torpedoes would breach the surface on occasion and was stated before was a recipie for trouble.

GodBoo... simply, the game is not perfect.

We have amazing 3D damage textures now, instead the 2D into SH III, but they are not perfect.

May be you engine room, your propeller axis and propellers dindt reach the hit points to be destroyed. But the damage texture make a big hole there.

To make it more real, just reduce your max min radius into torpedo US zon file... it will reduce the torpedo holes to a more razonable size.

Yea yea I know, the pics were more of a "hey guys look at this", than a grip about the game.

Check out the easter egg thread. Theres a shot there of a flying submarine let alone a torpedo.
