At the radar station click on one of the ugly buttons. It will change. You can see it on the radar itself.

Air is replenished when you surface automatically.

Radar range only increases by getting better radar. Surface search radar is limited by the curvature of the Earth in any event. As to CO2, you don't replentish it, you vent it by surfacing. That lets the stale are out and fresh air in.
