View Full Version : Whats wrong with my crews eyes?

There is ONE crew member - not the whole crew - just one guy at the chart table in the command room who seems to have no eyes. they are not bugged out (my copy is legal) they are sunk into his head about 2 inches. he has no eyes until you click him and he looks at you and you can see them sunk back into his head - pretty gross.
Thats what I look like...it's from staying up to late playing games :smug:

Are they red when you have red lights?

thats funny. i dont know how to explain it - he has just eye sockets... then when you click him he looks at you and it is creepy because he has eyes - they are just way back there

Stop makin eyes at your crew, theres a war on, you should leave all thoughts of romance till the Japs are beat.

If you have made any changes to the.exe this sort of thing will happen.
I'm not sayng you have, but some people have tried to get around putting the DVD in the tray and this can happen as a result.

Ive got the same thing happen and I dont use no-cd hacks (Too much chance of something nasty being D/L'd as well) - It only happens under red light at night , his eyes look normal during the day

I too have this problem, completely legal exe and a copy of the game is in the cd drive.

We are not talking about the popping eyes (copy protection), but the red eyes, yes? same here. No change of exe or dll or anything related.
He also is starring like he is realy mad at me. Maybe its the constant drill? "dive" "sureface" "dive" "surface" :)
I have to say that the crew models in SH4 are so hilariously terrible that they've almost got a certain charm to them :D
Especially on my PC, where they're not even lit correctly so they just end up looking like they're desperate for their next fix. And yeah, my guy's eyes are constantly freaking out (not popping out).

I know what he's talking about. At least the same thing happens in my d/l (purchased) version. Its not that he has no eyes, but the entire ships crews eyes are always looking at the camera (ie YOU!). the way he leans over the charts turns his eyes so much that you only see the whites, his iris/pupil is occluded by his face. You dont notice it with the rest because their backs are to you.
To watch the crews eyes follow you, hit "SHIFT + F2" and float around with the camera. No matter where you go, their eyes will follow.
It's for reasons like this I want to be able to change the camera positions or create my own.
Now we know why all those USN submarine skippers had mental breakdowns during long patrols... Who could blame them?

I'll have to snap a screen shot the next time i see it - its not the copy protection, its not red eye or evil eye.
its just that the man HAS NO EYES to speak of - at least not until he looks directly at you. Then and only then can you tell that he has eyes - BUT they are sunk back into his head about an inch (scale)

God forbid the copy protection for the game glitches out on me and their eyes pop out!

lmao at the pics! yeah really what's up with the crew? besides most of them needing some serious nose jobs, they don't really strike me as American looking for one, and the other day I was playing and took a shell in the conning tower...I went back down to the control room to see the damage and to my surprise, all of the crew had their shirts off exposing unreal six-packs, bulging biceps, fore-arms that Popeye would kill for, and a chest like Fabio's. The Navigator looked like the Ultimate Warrior from WWF in the 80's! I mean come on, get real--that is not how navy sailors look then or now--why did the devs feel they had to go so over the top? It's soooo Hollywood. I guess subtle execution is a thing of the past. The game is gradually growing on me, but to date, the thing that bugs me the most is definetely the crew in SH4. add to this, the fact that they don't talk much, and when they do, they sound like an answering machine voice on steroids, they are a bit of an immersion killer to say the least.
EDIT: I was just staring in wonder at my crew again--can somebody tell me what's up with the bell-bottoms?
