A message from the Silent Hunter IV Dev Team:

“We are working hard to correct the bugs discovered by the community or the testing team. Already patch v1.1 corrects many of the issues, and we’re at work on the next one. We have strong hopes it will include both Anti-Aliasing and a fix for the issues experienced when running the game in very high resolutions.

However, some issues pointed out, like for example the 2D appearance of crewmembers, the random counting by the crew or the eyes popping out from the men’s heads are actually part of the protection scheme. Playing a cracked version of the game or even using a no-cd crack over a legal install of SH4 game triggers this protection.

Obviously, running a legit version of the game should not produce these problems. Since we have found at least one documented case where such behavior was experienced by the owner of an actual copy of the game, we have contacted the company producing the protection used by the game.

We will track down the issue and sort it out. In the interest of helping us do so, please post here if you are seeing these issues, while running a legit version of the game."

Thank you,
The SHIV dev team

They better address a hell of a lot more in 1.2 than the pitiful list they gave on the the forums.

Screw the idiots that want to run it in 20,000000 X 40,000000000 pixels.

Fix the game play issues - let the eye candy geeks wait.

I am starting to think all the nice guys stayed behind in the Atlantic. Whats up with the tone in the SH4 forums?

To be honest I am not going to turn into a jerk on the forums but the more I play sh4 the more I run into bugs and it's making it really hard to just put up with it until the next patch (altho thats all we can do). Game killing bugs not just annoying ones so I think everyone is just kind of frustrated at this point. I'm not going to come on here and kill ubi and the developers as it wouldn't solve the problem but now the fact that I can't play a campaign because either the upgrades in my boat get messed up or my flak gun takes damages and the sub sinks it's just really frustrating. Honestly I have more enjoyment out of reading these forums at this point than I do playing the game so as soon as things get fixed I'm sure it will be a different story but for now thats just the way it is and I don't think I'm the only one who feels this way.

New people. Probably a lot of refugees from other forums who don't know the Subsim way.

That being said, I agree with the sentiment that I'd like to see them make fixing gameplay issues a higher priority than graphics (hi-res, AA, that sort of thing)

Yes, gameplay first, graphics later. I really hope they do it this way around.

Subsim should offer an indoctrination.... I mean an integration course then.;)

There´s few hundred new guys here, they cant all behave nicely. ;)

Besides, the game was just released, give them time! The devs cant do nothing about it if the game is unfinished, they dont decide the deadlines.

SubSim.com will experience an initial influx of new people, which is good for the community. However, a lot of discussion forums out there are "spleen vent tanks" so a lot of new people to this forum will bring their bad habits with them.

This is not a problem if regular SubSim members maintain the excellent posting standards that we have come to expect. Please always remain civil and polite, remember that honour is something you give to yourself so strive to acheive that.

I suppose I should simply have said "Lead by example".

And a big welcome to all the new members, I'm confident you will find this community most enjoyable.

Cheers....
