I converted Jiim's good old NavMapTools_v1.3 for use in SH4. Then with zAmboni's permission I added his Retro Nav Map Tools mod, and then I converted and threw in Aces Colored Menu Bar for good measure.

No, JSGME is a program. It copies Mods out of the MODS folder into the Data folder.

Here's a little application for SH4 that will randomize the thermal attenuation effect values based on time of year. Since SH4 seems to have the layer set at both a fixed depth and level of attenuation, this app attempts to provide a more varied experience by adjusting the attenuation value by season (simulating the varying depth of the thermocline over the course of the year), as well as introducing a degree of randomness to the effect (thereby accounting in some measure for the broad spectrum of possible conditions that affect detection probabilities for contacts across the layer).

I must say I am impressed with everyones contributions to SH4. They have already increased the Immersion factor 10 fold. Keep up the good work everyone.:up:

Hi to all,
I am a big fan of the RFB mod, it has mad a fantastic differance to SH4. However I have noticed one thing and would ask if any one else has encountered the following.
I am in a Gato 1942, I have air and suface search radar. There seem to be two new buttons in the radar station, click on one and you go to the air search radar, (which never seems to work, or at least I've never seen any aircraft detected on it!) the other button takes you to the surface search radar screen.

Now here's the problem. I may be playing for hours and sunk loads of ships, and generally giving hell to the IJN, then I get a radar contact report.

I usually go to the surface search screen first on maximum range if there's no blip I assume its a plane and crash dive. If there is a blip then I can track it from the surface search screen and manouver to it using surface seach.

Sometimes when I hit the button to go check the surface search say if I've been out on the bridge, I get a CTD. It is quite random, could happen sooner or later in a game, there does not seem to be a pattern.

Can any one tell me whats going on?

tired of watching the startup fliks, and or hitting space bar mouse button to skip. Here is a simple modification:
goto the directory
C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Movies\Intro
rename the following files

rename File: Intro.wmv -->> Intro.wmv.old

With so much going on , I am not sure where to post. I enabled the CBS sound mod again and it works but it has had a huge affect on the volume of the station. I've monkeyed around with the settings in the sound options and still get just enough to barely hear. Then why I give an order or am depth charged my eardrums get blown out. Otherwise the only other problem I've ahd with the patch is that I cannot get the battery life to be more realistic as in a mod developed. Thanks to all

Improved UnderWater Visibility Stage 2...

Made using V1.2 stock files this time, because i am not sure is the files Scene.dat has changes in V1.2.

The only way to be sure, is remake the mod on the actual file.

Has two choices, 30 meters, and 60 meters underwater visibility.
Stock is 18 meters.

1st / Love the Brass dials and new backgrounds for them big :up:
But would it be too much to ask for a red arrow indicator at the top of the Compass to show what heading you have or trying to achieve?

2nd / The new Stealthy sub sounds are very very cool :rock: just that it seems the swish of the props are 10 times louder than the sub cutting through the waves or water in general even in storms it is hard to hear the water sounds no matter what angle my camera is at.

OH **** didn't realize just how quiet all the new sounds were until my men just started shooting the deck gun at a merchant ship I almost jumped out of my pants but I did fall out of my chair no lie!!!!!! I thought someone had shot at us my volume on my PC was cranked and in suround sound with high base it was like the deck gun fired right next to me being an Army Vet that saw combat believe me it scared the **** out of me! So anyways my point it the deck gun and anti aircraft gun is at least 100 times louder than every other voice and sound in the game since I installed your sound mod. Thought I would bring it to your attention. Is there a way to adjust the sounds in the mod? I would do my own if you told me how. April 19th at 11:40 p.m. eastern us time.

Thanks for the feedback. I personally do not experience this problem at all and it seems that the sounds a pretty well balanced with the exception of the diesel. The diesels seem actually too quiet.

I have a little Beta team composed of my friends and they don't see this issue either.



However, since the volumes for individual samples are hardcoded, it is possible that your volume file is somehow screwed up, or maybe your sound hardware is odd.

I found a way to control individual volumes for the samples, and in the next release of the mod I will be including a master volume control file which should ensure that the mod sample volumes with the mod are uniform on everyones computers.

I have downloaded jimimadrids' shiny hud mod to get the crew management screen with the dead and injured icons.

I then added the latest version of flavoured to taste to get the real medals. Of course, the second of these overwrites the first so I thought that it would be a good idea to try and create a combination of them both.

So, with a little time in Photoshop I managed to draw some icons onto the flavoured to taste medals screen to represent dead and injured crew.

My Brother and I have both tested it and it works fine. We are both patched to 1.2 (but that's another story!).

I am running a Sound Blaster Audagy 2 6.1 64 bit sound card and Cambridge sound works speakers made for a PC I know I need to up date to a new sound but have to wait for more cash.

On a second note I guess I didn't explain myself well on the shinny Brass hud in the Compuss / rudder control guage was wondering if a permenant pointer or indicator could be mounted on the outer ring showing your heading on the cumpas it's self
like maybe the semmy transparent ones that are on the possition keepers with that little yellow line.

P.S. please excuse my spelling and grammer and or explinations since my second micro stroke it isn't always easy to say or understand things.

Is there a fix for the aa gun to where the boat doesnt obstruct your view when you swing 360 degrees. i thought the new patch was supossed to fix it but i still cant see aircraft when i swing the aa gun around on certain parts of the ship.

My first question is about the mod that randomizes the convoys with different ships and changes the report radius from the radio to the clip board! #1 there seems to be way too many convoys and reports that run thousands of miles away from my boat is there a way to reduce the radius of the reports to within lets say 500 to 750 square miles of your possition?

My Second question is has anyone seen the Horror Movie "Bellow" about a WWII American sub that is haunted by the Captain they Killed on the Sub after sinking a British Red Cross ship by accident? Anyways in that movie they had a Thermal graph in the subs command room that showed the temp changes for the water to show where thermal layers were! Anyway for someone to make one of those for the game boats???

My third question is When the new patch came out and was supost to stop the Plane search radar from picking up ships like it did well did it stop it from picking up anything at all? Ever since the patch I have never ever picked up anything on it at all! And is there a Mod that also makes available the other kind of radar for ships any sooner for sub upgrades?

Hello,

i am not really often here, but i think, you can help me. i have some ideas for new mods, but i am not good in using photoshop. i want to have a precision rouler for measuring correct distances in the nav map (for correct speed measuring without contacts shown in nav map, only by using the hydrophon with active ping) i tried to use a mod for sh3 in sh4, but there are too many problems.

how can i use it for sh4 correctly. if i only put the files in my sh4 folder, the precision rouler is at the pencil view. i changed the names (pencilExt.tga with LineExt.tga) for having the rouler at the rouler symbol, but it isnt in the correct middle position... i think, i have to use photoshop, but i cant see anything in photoshop, if i am openig these tgas from the sh3 mod...

can somebody help me?

another idea is too make a better inner ring of the hydrophon scale. i am reading the absolute bearings of hydrophon contacts in this inner ring, but it is not very easy to read the correct bearing. is it possible to make a better, clearer inner ring for that?

I am not sure, but I think there is some Tokyo Rose at Bunkerratt's FileFront Page (http://hosted.filefront.com/bunkerratt) . About 80% of his page is SH3 & SH4 gramophone and radio station music, news broadcasts, and TV shows of the period. The download is not named Tokyo Rose, she is in one of the compilations on the page.

I am going to download most of his stuff, so if I come across some, I'll let you know.

Your list of mods is a great addition - really helpful to be able to see all these cool things in one place.

I haven't really done much with SH4 so far other than a few tweaks to menu_1024_768.ini to do things like enlarge the captain's log display (to display custom log entries - see http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=518378#post518378 ), start the TBT screen with the torpedo panel closed - see http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=532024#post532024 , and move the message log into a better position (see - http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=528527#post528527 ). Are things like that worth listing somewhere on your compilation?

Also, I didn't see things on the list like the great tweak someone did to fix the binoculars so they aren't blocked by the conning tower when you scan the horizon (Mav87th's camera mod - see http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=534041#post534041 ) - would that be something that should be listed here? (I'm not sure if this is the one that's mentioned in the "recently added" section, but I didn't see it on the actual list itself and I couldn't get the link in the recently added section to work for some reason). Also, things like uzihead's tweak to add torpedo info tooltips (see http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=517036&posted=1#post517036 ), and the tweak to fix the "flying sub" problem by changing one of the wave state 4 settings (can't find the link ATM).

A lot of those sorts of things can get kinda buried in obscure threads but it might be useful to some folks if they were collected on a list like this.

Too many targets because half the time I use up most of my torpedo's before I even hit a Mission point. Maybe it is the Mod's I have. Between Mod Campaign VS1 and Kakemann Improved escorts I have more targets than I know what to do with.
But Tater is working on a layers Mod that adjusts all of the traffic layers as well.

Because so many aspects of the game have been Modded and being used by so many people that it is hard to know where your changes start and others end so you get a lot of conflicts. That is why I have the game set up on 2 PC's instead of one so I can seperate things by seeing what the original un MODED one looks like first.

Beery, I just found a way to make my Realistic Crew Ranks mod even better. I just noticed this text at the top of the Ranks.upc file:

We can get rid of the ridiculous promotions at sea now, unless one can show that sailors on board American subs could and were promoted at sea. How about it?

I DID not create this mod, cdrake66 did, his read me is included. All i did was the leg work to get it into V1.3

I will try and combine this with; weathered better scopes, and one of Darkship's chronos as they become available.

Trigger Maru v1.3 - Updated version of the mod pack (formerly known as Flavored to Taste) is out.

Ran it with the 1.13 patch and runs great so far! NOWW this game is close to what it should be.

This is my first time on the subsim forums so I am a complete newb:o. I'd just like to extend my thanks and appreciation to all you very talented modders, skinners, and general top blokes. You have taken what in my opinion was a very modest game and turned into something like the product that I think Ubisoft should have released earlier in the year. I can't understand why they don't employ guys like you and then maybe we would be able to get the kind of product we all would love, without an extended period of what basically is unpaid beta testing, bug fixing, and product development. I take my hat off to every one of you. Thanks once again.

I have the new medals downloaded but i have no idea how to make the replace the original game medals..I have vista home premium and it won't cooperate..I have opened the file in the following area's ubisoft-sh4-data-menu-gui-layout-and metals and there are no new medals...:nope: :damn: :-?

Manual AoB Calculator Mod (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=110949)This creation is a handheld calculator that will provide various bearing readings for the aid in finding target ship AoB, bearing headings, or navigation map plotting bearing positions. It is compatible with any previous or future patch.


Ship Centered, Accuracy Fix 1.4 and 1.5 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=126016) These two different mods change the reference point of target ships from the masts to a more central point, to help in accuracy for manually finding range. More importantly, the new points such as funnels, tops of nationality flags, or other structures have been calibrated to 1500 yards distance for accuracy. This will give the gamer a much better chance to hit a target with correct height figures. These mods are compatible with either patch 1.4 or 1.5 respectively. Additional features to the SCAF versions are to enhance gameplay and further help in correct range finding or navigation of your sub.


SCAF Range Test Mission (http://files.filefront.com/SCAF+Range+Testrar/;9318378;/fileinfo.html) This test mission has three stationary ships set at known distances. The intention of the mission is for comparing the SCAF mod range accuracy, with the stock SH4 game method. It is 1.4 patch compatible.


SH4 Stock Mast Height Correction (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=132683) This mod corrects the stock SH4 mast heights of 61 ships to give better accuracy for manual range finding. It is not as accurate as the SCAF method; however it will provide greater accuracy with manual range finding results over the stock method. It is in the simplest form (only changing mast heights), attempting to be as compatible with any patch or mod that exists (or future changes), barring a complete overhaul of the game. The gamer my wish to use Windows Notepad to manually change the “ship_name”.cfg files by hand to correct the stock numbers, if a future patch will not allow for an easy install.


Maxoptics2 (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=126016) This mod magnifies the periscope view by 100%, the binocular view by 250%. It will provide a greater ability to “see” your target for correct placement of the Stadimeter when using manual targeting. It will also give you a greater ability to recognize ships at longer distances. It is an original idea of WernerSobe. The mod is in various versions for compatibility with the stock SH4, or ROW Camera.dat mods versions 1.4 patch compatible. The download links for Maxoptics2 are further down the original SCAF thread. They are not set to a thread all their own.


High Realism Tutorial (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=128134) This instruction is to help the gamer in manually plotting a ships course, leading to an attack, when both game options of “Manual Targeting System” and “No Map Contact Update” are enabled. The tutorial is in PDF form for ease of use or printing. There is also a downloadable mission that the tutorial uses for helping in following along with the instruction. The mission is patch 1.4 compatible; the written instruction should be helpful no matter what the patched version.

Surely there are many more MODs which are compatible with SH4 1.5 (the AddOn) than just those listed in the first post in this thread...right? For example, I've seen threads about new Sound Mods, Speech MODs, diverate, Medals, etc, which are specifically made for 1.5.

Is there someone expert enough on MODs to update the list of 1.5 compatible MODs?

For the Orange Marker, deactivate Trigger, go into data\misc\UMark<-----delete this file in the Trigger Mod.

For the tails: 4.) How do i get back "tails" and sensor information on the navigation map?

Disable TMO, and delete the following two files( in Trigger ):
\Data\Menu\gui\ContLine.dds
\Data\Menu\gui\DashLine.dds

HELLO, I used enjoy play that game so lot however due to my career as not do for 2 years until I took a week vacation and saw new addition to SH4 that I knew lot about this German U-boat campiage history and I was so excited and play hard on German career at Pacific. I decison to pay a visit to that forum and I saw MOD list and see "XVIII " Wow I rush and install and noticed not work :damn:then I have to read forum more careful....OH I see. I should install JSGME first:o. My bad :doh:but I want tell you how big happy:D I am as want share with you as I am glad you post that information as I wish I need to get better reading level to spot what I need. Now I see more MODs as if I was at candy shop:p and want have all of them at one time OH boy. Three Cheers to MODDers! :up:

Hi, 1st post and newbie here to SH4. I have upgraded to the 1.4v patch. I hope this is the right place to ask this question

I am looking for cheats or downloadable mods to have invulernablity and unlimited ammo. I am really lousy at video games.

"Gizzmoe" the guy who started the thread has left subsim so there is nobody behind the thread to keep it up to date.

"neal stevens" (who runs this site) took time out of his busy schedule to updated it the best he could in march to help us out but he is very busy and mods have been comming out very often since then.

there is a member "mobius22" who volunteered to make a new complete list of all available mods and any help we can give him in this effort will i'm sure be appreciated.
