View Full Version : [REL] Changed HUD Lamp Color

jimimadrid
03-22-07, 05:03 PM
Because i don't like the difference between pressed or available Hud Buttons (both yellow), i changed the color of the pressed Hud buttons to green.
Now it is very easy to see the difference between a pressed and an available button.

I LIKE that! I thought I had my repair crew tackling the compressor problem while I was maneuvering away from a trio of angry Mutsukis only to realize I had it backwards.

Thanks! :ping:

2 ways : open the "GreenLamp Folder" and copy the interior folder in the mainfolder of your sh4, or use the fantastic JSGME.

Silent Hunter III was the same way: You could hit, for example, the key for "Fire AA at closing air units only", and it'd stay white. Only later did they turn yellow when pressed.

I changed the color for the mouse over the button back to light yellow. So you get three colors:
Dark Yellow for available buttons, light yellow for the button you rollover the mouseicon and green for pressed buttons.

Note for people downloading the latest version...

The Greenlamp folder is double nested within the archive. This will cause confusion for people. They will extract the archive into JSGME, then enable it, and expect the mod to be working only to find out it didn't do anything when they get into the game.

You will need to extract the mod to a Temp folder, then go into the Greenlamp folder in there, THEN move the 'Greenlamp folder found therein' into your SH4 MODS folder.

-OR-

If your using 7-Zip(maybe this works with Winar too), you can open up the archive, double-click on the Greenlamp folder contained in the archive, then you will see a Greenlamp folder, NOW... extract this one into your MODS folder.

This looks a brilliant mod - certainly can't tell when the buttons are on or off - but am unable to download from any of the links in this thread.

Is there an error at the server end, in the link itself? Is it possible please to upload to Rapidshare since I have no problem with their Premium downloads?

JimiMadrid, I didn't hear back from you, but I'm keen to get this great and desperately needed mod into RFB. If your answer turns out to be no I will of course take it out, but in case you're away from the forums for a while, to save time I'm going to go ahead and assume you're okay with putting it into RFB until you say otherwise. Hopefully I'm not being rude - I really don't want to step on any modmaker's toes, but I'm really excited to get this added to RFB.

How the heck do we get this to work with the "to taste..." mod?

I have tried using JSGME to install both, first installing the "to taste..." followed by this one. Both seem to install yet when I get in the game my lights arn't green when activated.

the "to taste.." mod seems to have applied though? Hmmm?

It should work with the "to taste.." mod, because both use different files.

please take care of the correct installation path in the mods folder.

I explain it too in this thread: http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=108965&page=3

Question about this green lamp mod. I dont use the mod enabler, i just do everything manually. im trying to track down my ORIGINAL "ReplayElements.tga" file, but there doenst appear to be one in my back up folder...

do you guys know if this file was simply ADDED for the Green Lamp Mod?

...just trying to get my original files in order incase i have any issues with the patch.
Thanks guys.

jimimadrid
04-16-07, 11:39 PM
@ ATR-42

in the data\menu\gui\layout Folder you will find an ReplayElements.tga + ReplayElements.dds.

As i noticed SH4 will use always the dds-files and in case of missing dds-file the tga- file.

This means, that if you have dds-files the tga-file will not be used.

Starting modding SH4 i do not know this, and therefore i modded also the tga files.

i think im just gonna uninstall then reinstall once the patch shows up, then start using JSGME, make life a whole lot easier.

Yes JSGME takes all the headache out, the only thing left for your noodle is figuring out how to manually combine Mods that overwrite the same file.

Hi Jimi...

Many thanks for the job !

Please, say to me... you put in both versions (1.1 and 1.2) the .tga and the .dds for ReplayElelents.

May be the .tga is not needed ?

jimimadrid

May be the .tga is not needed ?

Yes sir, you are right. The tga is not needed if there is a dds file. Missing the dds-file SH4 takes the tga-file.
Beginning with this mod i did not know if the tga file is usefull. Maybe that it will be used with old Graphiccards. Therefore i let it in.
