As I'm nearing completion of the K-Ship for SH3,
And noticed a wish for Zepps,
Perhaps I could help.
If I could get info on how you want the models
I'll contribute in this area if you'd like.

Ahoy privateer,
thanks for you kind offer. Well lets talk about it. I would have a couple of question first.
It seems you are a Zepp enthusiast, right ?
How knowledgeable are you on Zepps ? Do you also know the german Zepps of WWI and from the pre war time ?
How are your modeling skills and which modelar are you using ?
Can you show me some shots of your Zepp for SHIII and maybe other references ?
I currently use gmax, and can make many items too for you as needed.
I am in the middle of making L30, Exterior model.
in the past I have made several others for a program named Trainz.
You can see my work at pbase.com look for dasredbaron and you will see the items I made for trainz. (auran.com/trainz/forum I am whecsailor)
Hope my work is up to snuff for you and can speed things along in this endeavor!

Privateer is away on real world buisness and will
be in and out somewhat less frequently over
the next few months however he will be checking
in regularily.
When I had suggested to him that He and the imperial
flotilla were like peanut butter and chocolate. we had
discussed a little of what you ask.
He is indeed an enthusiast of airships he did however
confess to me that he didnt know a lot about the
world war 1 zepplins and airships.
I had encouraged him by imparting the knowledge
that his beloved airships were used far far more
extensively in WWI than in WWII and that it
really had a lot for him and that I thought he
might have a lot for you. he thought it over a few
days prior to making this post. so I would assume
his offer is well considered.
He does have a lot on the go. I will bring to his
attention that you have posted your response
and we will see if we can get him back over here
to answer the rest.
finally I can attest to this, Privateer is an excellant
moddeler with what I interepret to be an
advanced skill set. and at the very least.
a thourough knowledge.
will be back soon with my own stuff
that we discussed previously
under the headers "know your enemy"

Are you also behind U-94 ?

to answer the rest. I much appreciate your support but it's not necessary. I prefer people who come solely from their own motivation. If you have to motivate someone you waste your time. What you can do if you like to support us is to tell to others about our project but never try to convince or motivate someone to make an offer to us. Unfortunately most people are unsuitable for such a project. Most people loose their motivation invcredeably fast. So i'm very very picky at whomes offer i accept.
Besides that he posts several times a day on other forums ;)

Ahoy U-94!
I currently use gmax, and can make many items too for you as needed.
Tell me can you export to 3DS in gmax ?
I am in the middle of making L30, Exterior model. Would love to see this.
You can see my work at pbase.com look for dasredbaron and you will see the items I made for trainz. (auran.com/trainz/forum I am whecsailor)
Is this all from you ?

I apologize for my lack of response.
This time of the year is gearing up the business for the next 8 to 10
months and I'm swamped.
Today was the first time in over a week I called the wife!
I haven't even sent her an e-mail!!
But, I use 3DS Max 9, all my models are at home on my backup HD.
I should be able to send you a few examples in a week when I stop by
the house to pickup equipment.
I was interested in WWI Zeps years ago and know a bit about them.
Also a bit about pre-WWI Lighter then air ships.
In my research for the K-Ship for SH3 I gathered quit a few links concerning
Air ships from all Nations.
The K-ship model is currently getting the small pieces constructed for final
assembly to fit the SH3 Game engine.
Pieces such as the trim around the glass sections, final Crew adjustments
and placement, viewable parts of the interior of the Gondola, and final
touches to the exterior of the Gondola.
I've also started gathering pictures of WWI air ships for a demo model.

Also a bit about pre-WWI Lighter then air ships. The pre war zepps would be the most important one for the first release.
In my research for the K-Ship for SH3 I gathered quit a few links concerning

Anyway privateer notify me please when you are ready. Then we shall see.

Hi Deamon
No, I put no one up to anything. I am just also very fond of airships and things that floated during the 1885 to 1919 period.
Yes, that is my work on those pages with the exception of the war at sea file.
I can convert gmax to 3ds, however it has a tendency to lose the texture mapping. I am looking into 3dmax, a friend is willing to give me his old 3dmax5. I can convert to .obj or a host of others, but then texturing is for sure lost.
Within the program trainz, the models I made are necessarly low poly due to the constraints of the programing frame rate so most items are around 10,000 to 15,000 polys, a few are 22,000 but none are greater than that due to again, frame rates.
I came to your forum due to our joint interest in shipping of the same time period. The reason I offer my help on this, simple and somewhat selfish, I figure if I can help you on this with my modeling in some way, then I can also see some of the ships I always dreamed of once again sailing the seas, or see zepps flying again.
I am a weak programer to make the world, but can model OK,
I see your needing the Pre-war Zepps, Are you refering to those of DELAG, Hansa and such? While having no plans, I have numerous pics and info from Janes 1914. Should a set of plans exist, I could surely make her. would only need to know your poly limits for your program. I, like most, work best from plans of course. If U-bats are more of what you need, no problem there either, I have a wide range of Rossler's excelt books with plans. You could see on my site, the Type XXIII I built.
Would love to build a UBI or UC-I class, should they be needed prior to zeppelins.
I have also a very large library of plans for the french fleet from 1885 to 1960 as well as plans at the dreadnought project to work from. the only limit is of course the ploy limit of the program for a good frame rate.
If you have a differing model program, let me know and I will get it to better help.

Hi Deamon
No, I put no one up to anything. I am just also very fond of airships and things that floated during the 1885 to 1919 period.
Yes, that is my work on those pages with the exception of the war at sea file. Your trains have caught my eye, cose i need some trains too for the port scenery. Do you think you could contribute trains too ?
Tell me during which timeframe did the cerberus operated ?
I can convert gmax to 3ds, however it has a tendency to lose the texture mapping. I am looking into 3dmax, a friend is willing to give me his old 3dmax5. I can convert to .obj or a host of others, but then texturing is for sure lost. If you can get hold of 3dmax then do it. There is an OGRE exporter for it so that you can directly export to OGRE mesh. Else the native 3dmax format should be good.
Within the program trainz, the models I made are necessarly low poly due to the constraints of the programing frame rate so most items are around 10,000 to 15,000 polys, a few are 22,000 but none are greater than that due to again, frame rates. The models in IUF are fairly highpoly. A coastile steamer like this (http://www.titanpictures.com/images/game_art/IUF_steamer02.jpg) have 80.000 polys. I need highquality models in the first place. This is also becose most of the vehicles will be driveable.
But i have no reference zepps right now so i don't know how much polys one should have. We shall try this out and see. I can only say that the zepps should be high quality too.
That's good. We are all a bunch of enthusiasts and the dynamic nature of IUF covers alot of subjects, alot of nichies. Our team consist of very different and interesting people.
We have to talk about the concrete form and duration of our colaboration though. I'll PM you.
I am a weak programer to make the world, but can model OK, Just out of curiosity, which languages can you programm in ?
I see your needing the Pre-war Zepps, Are you refering to those of DELAG, Hansa and such?
I don't know what the names of the manufactorer were and afaik i think 1908 there were only a few zepps available in germany, or what would you say ? I'm not knowledgeable on zepps at all. Maybe you can better help me out with infos.
So i had on my mind the first few zepps of the LZ serie.
While having no plans, I have numerous pics and info from Janes 1914. Should a set of plans exist, I could surely make her. would only need to know your poly limits for your program. I, like most, work best from plans of course.
Plans is a problem i have only one plan drawing from LZ 1 what would be a good start, but so far i haven't found more.
If U-bats are more of what you need, no problem there either, I have a wide range of Rossler's excelt books with plans. You could see on my site, the Type XXIII I built.
Would love to build a UBI or UC-I class, should they be needed prior to zeppelins. I intended to reserve the u-boat modeling for my self since this is my main and top field of expertise. I want them to be in absolute top quality as you surely could get a taste of, from my site. But then there are quite alot of u-boats that i would need by the time and then there are also submarines of other nations that will have to be done. This is something you could do for example. Would you also like to do ships ? That's what i need most. Civilian ships in the first place.
I have also a very large library of plans for the french fleet from 1885 to 1960 as well as plans at the dreadnought project to work from. the only limit is of course the ploy limit of the program for a good frame rate. Are there any civilian ships among them ?
If you have a differing model program, let me know and I will get it to better help. Well i use C4D but i have no exporter for it so i'm thinking about 3dmax too. Right now i export to Blender and for blender export to OGRE mesh. But Blender cannot import models with materials so it's only of limited use for me. For C4D i need the models in lightwave format, since we found out that this is the only format under which the mesh survives the import into C4D.

hello
yes, I have literally hundreds of wwi and before period locomotives, wagons, and scenery buildings currently available.
As for civilian ships,, yes, I do have plans for those to build from too. From side wheelers for the channel and up. 80-,000 polys is a good number for the ships as the beter they are for the important details and crewmen.
I will then get the 3dmax from my friend and start converting over. I'll go find the Ogre exporter now too!

Are there german locs/wagons among them too ?
I'm not sure about the scenery buildings though since i intended to build the authentical one. I guess you don't have specific german buildings ?
EDIT: So what about the cerberus when was it commissioned ?

I'm woundering how many do you have that would fit to the german coast in 1908 ?
It also must be said that an american paddle stemer doesn't fit to the german coast since other models were common here but sea going ships should be ok.
I will then get the 3dmax from my friend and start converting over. I'll go find the Ogre exporter now too!

By the way, amid the stuff you modelled for Trainz, do you have , by any chance some civilian yawls and small sailboats? In order to make the waterfront as lively as posssible, we need as many different models as we can get.
About wagons
yes, I also have numerous wagons and passenger cars for that period
the scenery building are just standard german,, not so much area specific.
About the Cerberus.
Built in 1870 and serverd up until 1921. She has 2 other sisters too, one was on Inda station and the other in England.
The Paddlesteamer
The American one for sure would not fit,, the other though is an English Passenger ferry, one of 7 built. This particular one served the Gibraltar to Africa run. her sisters served on the Thames and also the England to France run. But she is for sure English.
hope that help a little

Or such that served in germany ?
yes,
I have many German, Prussian, french, KVP, and British Era I, II, and III, wagons, locomotives, passenger cars, and such,
If you want,, I can send you a dxf or.obj of a few.
As for German Sidewheelers, I have a few, Mostly though they are River types.
I do have plans for only a few merchants of that era for Germany. Mostly I have plans from Holland and wolff for the English, and of course the French Archives on line for theirs,.
Thanks

I would say send just one as a test in .dxf and .obj I have to see first what i can open with my modelar.
Many thanks in advance.
As for German Sidewheelers, I have a few, Mostly though they are River types. Oh that's nice. That's what i look for cose there are many of this small vessels in the Kiel fjord which we are so fond to recreate.
I do have plans for only a few merchants of that era for Germany.
What tonnage do they have and what type of ships are this ?
Mostly I have plans from Holland and wolff for the English, and of course the French Archives on line for theirs,. This is of use too for international ship traffic.
