Since some of the threads have been archived, it is no longer possible to post in them, and because the 9th installment of "guess the sub" has not been answered, I have taken the liberty of re-posting the image:

Sofar the guesses have been "US Holland boats" by Diesel, answered
"Nope, hehe. Hint: this are not US Boats!" by Deamon and "UK H, A, B and C" classes by Tlam Strike, also a dry hole.

A-ha!
I think I got it!
I was puzzled for a while, since the bottom six boats look like the US F-class, a submarine class I know for sure had only 4 boats, two of which were lost in diving accidents in Hawaii in 1915.
Another contender would be the British H-class, but Deamon's answer denies this posibility... And yet...
Of the 20 boats in the RN H1 class (based on the US Electric Boat Company project 602) 10 were manufactured by Vickers Canada in their Montreal shipyard.
The first batch of 4 (H1-H4) sailed to the Mediteranean accompanied by HMS Calgarian in may 1915, and the rest (H5-H10) were delivered a month later to England after crossing the Atlantic in the company of the HMS Carnarvon.
The remaining 10 were built in 1917 by the Bethlehem Steel Company in their Fore River Navy Yard.

So could it be that the submarines in the picture are Canadian and American built but sail under the British Flag? :D

If not, they could be some of the H-boats built for Italy and Tsarist Russia, but since both countries only got 8 each and the latter were shipped in kit form and assembled at the Baltic Shipyards in Nikolayevsk, I find this difficult to believe...

Furthermore, I have found three more pictures of the Canadian built second batch of H-boats (H5-H10):

The two above photos show the boats in the Vickers yard just before their departure to Britain, with HMS Carnarvon in dry dock because of damage sustained by accidentaly running aground.
In the second picture, the boat heading out for a test dive is the H7.

The third photograph shows 3 of the boats while moored in Halifax harbour during a 2 week stay on their way to Britain.

Ach.
You're, of course, thinking of "Guess the Sub #8".
I don't know why, but I skipped over it the first time I read the archives....

Anyway, here's the photo:

Ok, thought it over.

Are you sure this sub is WW1?

Because if not, Id's say it's the dutch sub O25 serving in the Kriegsmarine as the UD3.

Both the "bulges" near the stern and the raised sides in front of the gun are unique to the Dutch O-Class, and from the dutch submarines serving in the German Navy during WW2, O-25 was the only one to sail in the original configuration. (O26 and O26 had been captured in the yard and were finished by the germans with extensive modifications.)
Also, the flag is deffinitely that of the Kriegsmarine.

Anyway, here is anotother picture of the sub in german hands:

And one of the boat during launching, to note the differences:

Uff, i have to look if i can come up with more mysterious images. :hmm:

This is also the good thing about WWI. Guess the sub with german WWII subs would be hardly possible.
