I saw some video on YouTube

that lead me to believe there are sizeable tides in the part of the world. If so, that could limit the times at which SSBNs (and many other warships for that matter) could enter and leave the harbor.

This documentary film is called " Russian Akula". Duration 45 minutes.
Educational shooting by ballistic missiles from the "White sea" Area.
The president Putin has carried out the whole night by onboard this boat, before start of missiles. Excellent film!

did I see a "shroud" on the propellor of one of the Typhoon's in that video?

Similar to what is on the "Seawolf" class sub that is modeled in DW, and I assume, because I've never seen any pictures, of one on the Seawolf in RL.
