There are rumours that Silent Hill is going to be rushed to release on July 18th (or no later than August 15th). That seems too early to me, but the news is somewhat widespread. Below are a couple of links I found at one site.

Does anyone know if this is true - I hope it is, as I really enjoyed the movie.:yep:

Grrrr ... that Silent Hill game, any time I asked about Silent Hunter 3 in a game store the assistant would reply "Oh you must mean Silent Hill 3"

Yes the two titles are very similar aren't they. I've never had that experience though, but I bought Silent Hunter III without asking anyone at the counter about it.

So the movie was good? I asked about it in a thread after having red a surprisingly good review on it. they sad this is not the usual crap movie you expect whnever a console game is turned into a film. They sad that it actually had "reffinesse" and psychological depth, complexity, and suspense. Would you say that's true?

Yes, I thought it was. A lot of critics gave it bad reviews (see rottentomatoes.com), but that was probably because they were angry over the fact that the movie was not screened in advance for them. Reviews from audiences were much better - the psychological level of fear from the games was utilized perfectly with both excellent sound and visial effects. It is certainly not an action movie with no plot (i.e. Resident Evil, Doom, BloodRayne), but there is one problem with it that many average viewers have noted. The plot can be hard to follow for casual movie viewers, and some parts (including the ending) are quite vague. If you have played the games (the first three, and especially the first two) you will understand the entire concept better, but a complex and open-ended plot fit the Silent Hill series quite well anyway. At any rate, it is certainly different from most other horror films out there right now and I hope there will be a sequel.

Instead of depending on the whining and annoying critics whose reviews are on Rottentomatoes, check out the customer reviews on Amazon.com (they actually have movies listed that are still in theatres, for the purpose of posting reviews as they are not even ready for pre-order yet). They are more accurate, IMO, but there may be mild spoilers (I forget).

Why moving this thread? It was started about the movie, not the game!

Skybird is right. Silent Hill also has nothing to do with subs or any other type of naval vessel - it doesn't make sense to move the thread here, IMO.:-?

Maybe you two should take the look-out course all over again. :D

Does 'films' mean all films? I thought this thread was only for naval related films. OK, then it does make sense to move it.:yep:

I suppose it doesn't really matter, but Silent Hill is going to be released on DVD August 22nd now (it is obviously no longer being released on July 18th:p). I forgot I even started this thread, but it's not as if I'm resurrecting a dead thread really - it is still on the same page. :rotfl:Good movie though - I will definitely be buying it.

IMO, the movie could have been much more scarier with just a little more effort. It wasnt anything special, just another movie with mediocre actors and dialogue. Shame, tho, I was waiting ALOT more from this one. On a good side, I liked the music in the beginning. Straight from the Silent Hill games.

IŽll have to give it 6/10.:nope:
